Making the trip from California to South Florida, 2029 offensive lineman Rhys Fa’amausili got the opportunity to compete at Miami’s Legends Camp and see what the Hurricanes program is all about.
For Fa’amausili, the biggest thing he took away from the event wasn’t just the drills or competition, it was seeing how a top-tier college program coaches its players like Miami.
“My biggest takeaway was getting to experience how a national top college program coaches in person and learning the little details that separate good from great,” Fa’amausili said.
During camp, he worked closely with Miami’s coaching staff and received valuable coaching points that he plans to take back home with him.
“The Miami staff was great—high energy and detailed,” he said. “They told me to focus on keeping my upper body still on my kick step so I can be more consistent.”
Beyond the football side of things, Miami’s culture stood out to the young lineman. Seeing former Hurricanes players and program legends around the facility gave him a glimpse into what makes the program unique.
“The brotherhood really stood out,” Fa’amausili said. “Seeing alumni and former players and legends talk about how strong and lifelong the bond is was big for me.”
Traveling across the country to attend the camp was an experience he won’t forget.
“Just being here was a blessing, especially coming all the way from Cali,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and hope to stay on Miami’s radar.”
With camp season still in full swing, Fa’amausili has no plans of slowing down. He’ll continue traveling and competing before turning his attention back to his team later this summer.
“I’ve got a few more camps this summer and then I’m getting ready for summer practice with my team,” he said.
The California native may still be early in his recruiting journey, but his willingness to learn, travel, and compete against top talent is already helping him make a name for himself. After his experience at Miami Legends Camp, the Hurricanes are clearly a program that left a strong impression.
