the co-OC at Oklahoma. Anyone know how involved he is in the game planing and play calling? and if hes a good option?

Why not? He played quarterback at OU. He is their passing game coordinator and their recruiting coordinator. Calling plays is a shared responsibility. Everybody acts like these guys act immediate! I'm willing to bet that Gundy would be very, very good and he'd bring OU's offensive concepts to the ACC. Works for me.

Would rather have the guy who actually co-designed the Oklahoma offense with Riley and fixes the OL.

Depends on who is the new OL coach. You don't think that Gundy was part of the design of the offense? Before Riley there was Heupel and Norvell. Oklahoma has been scoring a ton of points well before Lincoln Riley.

From what I've read, Riley and Bedenbaugh worked together to implement a power run game to the Air Raid (both are off the Mike Leach tree) when Riley was tagged as the HC. Gundy, as far as I know, wasn't mentioned as one of the architects.

As far as coaching, he’s been there since the start of the Stoops era, so he’s coached with Leach, Mangino, Wilson, Sumlin, Jay Norvell, Riley, etc...

He’s never been a playcaller, so who knows?

But he’s certainly been around some good offensive minds for a long time.
 
Seems like an OU lifer. Been there forever and has been a position coach only for most of the time there. I get the feeling he might be Fredo to Mike Gundy’s Michael Corleone.

Just read a couple articles on Cale. Highly doubtful. Like franchise said, he’s a lifer. His son was an assistant and they worked together their and his daughter is a freshman now. It said he doesn’t do the whole bouncing around thing. Plus it doesn’t seem like the Miami life would sit well with them. It would be a great hire but I don’t see it as being realistic judging by the information I’ve read.
