Cager

That's true, but is that a reason to want him gone? Are we that secure at WR and that sure he won't get better next season that we'd rather he leave. And keep in mind our scholarship situation...it's not like he's taking up a critical spot and/or we've got a bunch of better guys coming in.
I didn't say I want him gone, but we have good WR's plus 2 studs coming in for 2019, he's not irreplaceable.

It's not that he's taking up a critical spot, it's that he'll play ahead of far more talented players simply based on his seniority. But if he does come back don't be shocked when Haselwood, Ezzard, Hightower & Payton are frustrated sitting on the bench.

Was wondering about that. I thought maybe he was talking about Kelly Bryant, but who the **** knows. I'm not sure Cager, who has been here for 4 years, would be scared of competition. He wasn't scared of JT or Pope or AR at the beginning of the year, but now he's scared of who's left? Would be strange.
why would cager care about competition? he stinks it up and still gets mad reps.

Ezzard and Pope were fed up with him playing and they didn’t see the field and viewed it only because of his relationship with Dugans and nothing else. Ezzard got to red shirt but thought he could’ve helped down the stretch but didn’t get any opportunities.

It’s not a done deal that he’s gone but could be a situation where it was Pope and Ezzard gone or Cager and they told him it would be in his best interest to pursue other opportunities and he’s looking. Just a situation where the older guy didn’t gel with younger guys and wanted to be the veteran that told the younger guys what to do and not pull his own weight. I hinted at this last time I spoke to coach Whitley at Stockbridge.

Also a guy I follow on social media from former coaching days that is now at Charlotte recently started following him. Possible he follows Evan there. Maryland would make a lot of sense

Lol at Pope and Ezzard being fed up with Cager playing... Pope was trash this year the end. Ezzard I would’ve liked to see get more reps but Cager isn’t the only WR spot on the field and there is also a thing called 2nd and 3rd string... how about you figure out how to simply get in the rotation first before *****ing about who “you’re fed up seeing play” gtfoh with this weak *** ****. Really gossip like this make the players that’s gossiping look bad nobody else.

One guy quits on the team with a game left y’all bend over backwards to support/rationalize the decision...another kid waits till the the end, if rumor is true to transfer or declare and y’all bashing...lmao man I’ll tell you
To be fair if you look at the jt thread it was pretty split on how people felt about the situation

Lol I don’t want to revisit that. But in the moment here and on twitter Nd suck it seemed 65 bending over for jt and blaming the staff and 35 the other way..but still acting like losing any one of our rotational WRs heading into next is not HUGE is really really dumb..I fully expect us to land haselwood but idk if he’s a EE which is important. But even then we need cager just off numbers alone

Barry Jackson talked about Cager in his chatty patty segment, but seems to think he stays.

Cager, RS Junior, Golden lover. Its so pathetic how the problem children across the team all seem to be Golden boys. All our loafs on the Oline, Rosier, Cager, yada yada.

I can think of Langham, Redwine and Quan as the only goldanites who were worth a **** this season.

Cager couldnt catch a cold. Lance Leggit, Aldarius Johnson cloth...

Exactly. Besides JT3, Cager was the best receiver on the field. Who else is catching touchdowns?????????? Wiggins and Harley were straight up underwhelming as well. People complaining about Cager when Wiggins can't catch a cold either, yet he CONSISTENTLY gets opportunities over Pope and Ezzard. We rotated mad receivers this year, and if you want to play more, you need to shine when given the opportunity. That chop block on Pope was amateur hour. Why is Wiggins getting more burn than Pope? Maybe it's because of the little things and also getting into Miami in the spring. If Cager polishes up and catches the ball consistently, he is a legit NFL prospect.

Is this another anti-northeast bias thread? Trash a talented/developing out of state player (Edwards) over an over-hyped local (Yearby).

The real issue is the offensive coordinator/coaching and not the players. All of our wide receivers are talented enough.

How many 5 stars bust

He was a solid college player, no shame in that

Chick was playing out of position. He is a pass rusher. Not an eat- space run stuffing 3-4 DE that No'D had him in. If Chick played in this defense that wr have with Manny, Chick's strengths would have been on full display. But.... No'D was his coach and he played out of position.... and bashed him for it. If No'D was gonna use Chick properly, should have had him at OLB in a 3-4 rather than a 245 pound player play a DE in a 3-4.

But back to No Hands Cager

That’s just how it is and how kids are these days. They might not have been ready but they didn’t think he deserved to play even over Langham and some other guys. Not just themselves

Coaches make players not catch easy balls?

This is one of things that is too often misunderstood.

Good coaches get the most out of their players. Why are they missing easy balls? If they are easy that means it is not lack talent but lack of focus. Lack of discipline. Lack of preparation. Which all equals to a lack of coaching.

Teams have catching drills during practice. Has this been a problem in practice? Have they ignored this problem?

If you have one player dropping balls then you sit him and play someone else but when the entire WR squad is dropping balls there is a coaching problem.

I don't know if Cager is great or awful. All I know is I will wait to judge until after he is away from a bunch of poor coaching.

I know, I had heard the same thing from people close to Pope for months now. I been telling people on here that the issue with the young guys in the locker room was real & they had a legitimate gripe especially because Cager wasn't a leader by example in practice. Meaning, the reason for him being the starter was solely because he's a upperclassmen & his relationship with Dugs & not because of his practice habits.
@Liberty City El

Has this situation been addressed to your knowledge? Are any of the young WR transfer possibilities? Personally I think it would be best if Cager moved on but that's my opinion.

Also, in terms of the locker room situation, was Jeff Thomas part of that as well? Was JT liked by his teammates or was the issue with JT all between him and the coaches?

It's frustrating because we do have some promising young talent on offense with the freshmen WRs plus Harley, the TE group and a very good group of RBs. We need a QB to step up and the young OL to develop. It's difficult for me to see that happening when we have a burnt out retread at HC/OC who runs an offense straight out of 1985, a QB coach who has no clue what the ***** he is doing and a bunch of yes men drone types. FML!

What good proven recievers do we have?? They look real pedestrian to me. Im not counting on any freshman to come in and make an impact

I would get rid of Dugans before showing Cager the door (and it frees up Offensive Coordinator money).
- route running … horrible.

Not disagreeing necessarily, but it seems like it was just a few weeks ago that many on here decided that Dugans was the only offensive assistant worth keeping around. Now he needs to go.

Agreed.. Our WR core played like garbage for the most part, some of that has to fall on the coaches. However, I don't think Harley is very good, even with his speed he can't get open consistently and when he does he drops the ball, plus he's tiny. Wiggins looks like he has the physical tools but can't catch. Cager is terrible, can't catch, gives up on routes and looks like he is loafing around out there half the time. Pope did nothing.. Add the loss of Richards and Thomas and this has to be the disastrous season for our WRs, considering the high expectations we had for them coming in. We need some of these young receivers make some serious improvements.

The only thing Wiggins has shown so far is alligator arms. Dude got called out during the BC game broadcast for looking like he didn't want to be out there.

Hightower looks like a good WR.

Njoku has potential.

The rest of the group needs to show major improvement in all areas.

His natural position was LB? So him playing de his entire hs career makes him a lb?

all the LB, MJ, and Joe Jack were recruited by golden too.

The issue is bigger than Dugans who is a Great coach. There was a lack of accountability on the entire offense. The OL, QB, WR, & RB’s all had execution issues and those players who continuously failed to execute on the field kept on playing.

It should be if you fail to execute, you sit and it’s next man up, and if they fail it’s next man up and so on. There was zero urgency on offense and the rotating players constantly is ridiculous!
