Weldon, the son of former FSU QB Casey Weldon, has known Mark Richt for quite a long time. Richt, who was once the QB position coach at FSU, coached the elder Weldon, and from there the relationship grew.

After an unofficial visit to Miami this past weekend, the younger Weldon vaulted Miami to the top of his recruiting list. He also said Miami was looking to take 2 QBs in this class, which they now have after the commitments of both Weldon and top prospect N'Kosi Perry on board.

Weldon's recruitment has been a bit under the radar. After a stellar sophomore season, he missed the entire 2015 season due to a torn ACL. While he only lists 6 offers at current, I fully expect Weldon to be a 20+ offer kid in the near future.

However, that injury is in the past, and he's been tearing it up on the camp and 7on7 circuit, showing that he has the game to match his famous last name.

Weldon committed to Miami over offers from Kentucky and South Carolina, among others.
