So if you get blades and 2 or 3 more top cbs it's a issue ?

Josh Jobe is elite and I've made that a point for a while now. Al Blades is not as good as people are making him out to be on here so I have to stop you right there, before comparing the two. He's not elite, at least yet. He has a bit of refining to do but he's a very good athlete, he passes the numbers test. He has the tools but he's going to need coaching. People who have watched him play in games will agree.

That same thinking of oh but we can replace with this or this guy, is what puts us in a bad quality of depth at DB. Jobe money is at safety but we need help there too regardless as well.

Isn't Jobe related to a former or current Hurricane?

That's Frierson. Frierson cousins are Frank Gore & Denzel Perryman. Frierson brother is actually at FIU right now. Shakur Cooper (Led Dade in sacks)

Jobe brother is playing in the NFL now. Johnny Holton of the Oakland Raiders. Came out of Cincinatti.

I don't think Holton's his brother. Shaq Cooper and Jason Frierson (former FIU starting WR) are his brothers.

Losing Jobe would be terrible. We have zero safeties that have the range to be productive in a single-high (maybe Jeff James). This makes Campbell and Hall's recruitment even more important than before.

I think you might be getting Jobe & Frierson confused from my post. From my understanding for a while now. Johnny Holton is Josh Jobes older brother.

And yes! Losing Jobe would be a huge loss. People in here are going to say "it's 2018" "there is so many dbs in 2018" "We can replace him". That thought process is where we continue to have poor quality of depth at DB.

You don't just replace an elite guy.

Regardless of how hard Alabama is coming at him, I do believe Miami will have a legit shot of reeling him back in. From what I was told through a family member.

I'm also very high on Gurvan Hall & Tyson Campbell. I like Tyson upside a lot as a corner actually, great safety too though. I think Gurvan has the potential to be the best of the bunch from 2018 when college is over, he has tremendous potential.

Another one might be coming. JJ, Noticed some pro bama things lately and was shared a not so pro-Miami article today about the situation.

I talk to his cousin directly and he thinks he will stick regardless in the end and be at Miami but we'll see.

Did Antwan Smith really have on UM slippers?

What kind of reporting do you call this?

SMFH

The fact that I'm warning he's not that solid, just like I did with Brian Edwards.

Ok I see. So that's the cryptic way of covering your *** one way or the other.

Rick better tighten this **** up. It's feeling eerily similar to the leaks that sprung up in the SS Folden. Jobe is one of the best players in South Florida. We can't continue losing the elite of the elite and trying to replace them with under the radar guys with offers from Illinois and Purdue.

So wait a sec...you come down on people for saying that Miami's class will suffer because Bama/LSU are hard to beat in 1x1 recruiting battles, yet you're doing the same thing in your post?

Many people on here have been espousing the "2018 we're going to clean up at DB" nonsense when many of us rely on the age old recruiting adage of "cleaning up almost rarely happens, even though there is plenty of talent." Reality is many of those 2018 kids will fall into a few categories - 1) not as good as we have been thinking, 2) express interest in other OOS schools, 3) stick with miami. Realistically, we'll only land a fraction of those top notch kids - happens virtually every year.

Miami will never be elite again that is just the reality

This is hard to argue...

As much as I hate to agree.

The internet and recruiting websites have put a spotlight on south FL that was never there in the days when we dominated.

So many amazing athletes that never got big time exposure were overlooked by all the other programs except us b/c we were the only ones who were plugged into it down here.

Especially in the 80s...

Miami rarely got the 5star players, they got 5star caliber players that were overlooked and rated low with few offers (Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, and Ray Lewis were all rated 3stars or under).

Recruiting websites have blown this thing up into a circus, especially down here in south FL.

It is very rare nowadays for an elite athlete in south FL to be overlooked.

Then you throw in the $$$$$ being offered to a lot more of these elite kids down here than you would like to believe...

We will only be able to sign elite kids from down here that grew up loving the Canes, and the further we get from our glory days, the harder that is going to become.

The kids coming out now have never seen a Hurricane team worth a ****.

It hurts, and I hate to admit it, but it almost seems like it is going to take a miracle for us to reach the mountain top again.

Just look at the teams that come down here and poach our top recruits year in and year out.

Then you hear the whispers of $$$$ being thrown at these kids (don't think for a second that Dalvin Cook, Patrick Peterson, Valentine, Sammy Watkins etc... weren't straight bought) and we can't compete with that.

Even Nevin's ***** a$$ said he could never out bid the $EC schools for top players, and if he did buy anyone, that would have been the first thing he would have told the NCAA since he was trying to bury us.

All the stuff that Nevin said happened goes on at almost every big time school, but those school's boosters would never give up that info b/c they are true fans and didn't become boosters to feel cool hanging out with football players.

But the buying of these elite level recruits no longer makes this a level playing field.

Look at the teams that don't play by the rules when it comes to recruiting...

They are usually in the top and constantly bring in top classes.

Cam Newton showed us that buying the right recruit can win you a NC, and he also showed these recruits that you can take the money, win the ******* Heisman and the NC, get drafted #1 and nothing will go wrong.

This is all true, but in reality, what's cost miami over the years imo, hasn't been losing the one-off 5 star can't miss prospects that go to school$ for whatever reasons - it's the 3-4 star kids that we either mis-evaluate or don't do a good job recruiting that has been killing us over the years.

Ryan Bartow with a prediction to Bama this morning for Jobe. He's pretty tuned in. Hopefully we reel him in before NSD 2018. Plenty of time. Frierson is his boy and he's a commit, although he's flirting with UF. I hate recruiting

These kids want to come to Miami, but losing on the field is the reason they end up going to other programs. We need to start winning meaningful games soon. Beat FAU and App St isn't going to get it done.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Same thing every class.
Miami isn't the "IT" school anymore kids aren't as excited about a Miami offer as they are LSU, BAMA, **** seems like even the Gators

Not always true. Look at the kids going to UF - UF isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

they want to win and go to NFL (ohio st, Bama, soon to be michigan). some love the college town atmosphere (Tenn, UF, etc)
we need to win. like USC, when we win, its like being on a pro team. these kids were babies when Butch righted the ship. they
need to see it. feel it.

U have to get the players first man period....only some coaches have the gift of winning in season one not even saban did it

Where did I do that?

And yes I've been preaching that 2018 is vital to get the top tier guys at DB, because a lot of good ones at DB will get away who would be takes in other classes. Not enough spots for everyone.

Ole Miss wasn't winning anything.
Bama couldn't beat Louisiana Monroe in Saban's first year.
You guys keep saying f.. this dude and that dude if he doesn't want to come here and I get it.
Byrd, Henderson, Jobe, etc. those kids jump out. That type of athleticism when added up is program changing regardless of what side of the ball where they end up playing. I agree with all that say we can't wait for next year. Bama has multiple 5 and 4 star recruits riding the pine on both sides of the ball especially in the trenches.
So if it's not playing time and it's not wining then that only leaves one thing.

They are 5-1 and 3-1 in conference. They are in first place. I'd say they are doing much better than we are.
