SMU will be a bottom feeder in the ACC, and that isn't saying much. At least Stanford and Cal are (were) big league programs.

SMU has MONEY. Guarantee they are among the top 4 in the ACC year in year out now that NIL is a thing and they're in the P4. Just give them 3-4 more years to build up.
