Bye Week Perspective

Ill never forget the play BEFORE the 4th and 17! Rousseau gets a sack and causes a fumble with clear recovery. Manny doesnt challenge or get timeout, no booth review, no comment on it after, no fight for play that gives us a win, nothing! The game is over right there and 4th and 17 never happen.. SMFH

We were right there against V'tech, but how do you get that far down to that team in the first half.

The first play on offense of the Clemson game, King couldn't even get the snap - and it went downhill from there. Don't know if that was a not prepared type of thing, or nerves.

With a bye week upon us, people constantly point to Manny's 0-4 bye week record, so I went back and looked at this:

#1 vs North Carolina - lost 28-25 and we missed 2 FGs and gave up the infamous 4th and 17

#2 vs Virginia Tech - lost 42-35 and we missed the extra point that would have given us a 36-35 lead and killed our energy. QBs threw 4 interceptions and we were down 21-0 in 1st quarter

#3 vs LA Tech in bowl game - lost 14-0 and QBs threw another 2 interceptions. Team gave up and offense was in shambles with Penos as offensive coordinator

#4 vs Clemson - lost 42-17. Played #1 team in country and were completely outmatched but team did not quit like in years past

So of the 4 games, kicking game and QB killed us in the first 3 games. We have an elite kicker now and QB play has been vastly upgraded...I don't take the Clemson game into account for obvious reasons, This bye week followed by NC State is the barometer for me in determining Manny's ability following a by week

NC State lost their starting QB. Just got smoked by UNC. Not exactly a very talented team or world beater. Why are we putting so much stock into this game as to whether or not Diaz has the goods? Miami “should” win this game soundly.

And you're missing my point. Flat or not, we lost VT and UNC due to QB play and poor kicking game...both those problems have been fixed. Don't agree we came out flat against VT, but our QB spotting them 21 points would make any team look flat. Yes, against UNC we came out flat.

I'm not, just pointing out that the 2 biggest reasons we lost to VT and UNC specifically have been fixed. For the last 10 years everyone has been *****ing about winning the games we're supposed to win and this year we are doing that, with 4 of the 5 by double digits, yet so many fans still want to ***** and complain.

Gotta learn to crawl before you can walk and walk before you can run. We are finally beating the teams we're supposed to beat so enjoy the games a little more...no one in their right mind thought we were NC contenders. People said UAB would be tough and probably half the people on this board said we would lose. Next came Louisville and the same thing. Then FSU and all the crap about being a rivalry game yet we blow them out in historic fashion.

Manny had a crazy good 2020 recruiting class considering we went 6-7, and the 2021 class has two 5* in it and is loaded with talent. Whether you like it or not, Manny is the coach for the foreseeable future so why not cheer for the team instead of *****ing all the time? People wanted Leach or Babers or fill in the blank yet we're winning games we haven't won in 10-15 years. We are NOT going to get a big-time coach...never have and never will.

Finally, Manny has had to deal with the whole Covid-19 issue this year...have we missed a game due to our players testing positive? No! But VT, ND, and Wisconsin (among others) have and there's nothing to do in Blacksburg, South Bend or Madison. Miami was a Covid-19 hotspot and we haven't had those problems.

Manny very well may not be the "guy", but he's made significant changes after the 1st year, has had 2 great recruiting classes, and is winning the games we're supposed to win

If we wouldn’t have come out flat we wouldn’t have lost
