Bye week curse

After last night, I’m even more scared for us after Byes. That was one unfocused team dragged around by a handful of offensive players and coaches. Their backs must be on fire this morning. Will take the W any way we can get it, though.

You are completely missing the point.

That is not the point of many that have talked about the bye. The over arching point about manny’s failures off the bye week is that the team is seemingly unprepared, unmotivated and undisciplined coming off the bye. This remained true last night - we just pulled out a win due to a Herculean effort by king. The prior losses have just been a biproduct of those things.

What do people think happens during a bye week that doesn't happen during a regular week? It's not a vacation. They still practice and plan. Does anyone think this game plays out any differently if we did it last week?

We've come out just as flat and unprepared for every single game. There's nothing special about bye weeks.

If you want to call it a curse, then yea it’s broken. But like Lu said, we looked bad again coming out of a bye and looked unfocused again.

It’s a Manny Diaz issue. NC state scored 21 against UNC porous defense the week before. Letting up 41 is a defense focus issue. We came out half asleep again out of a bye and got bailed out by King and the offense.
 
Good lord, why do people think my statement is some affirmation of Manny? My point is simply that there is nothing special about bye weeks so predicting failure because we're bad after bye weeks is ridiculous. We're the same team with the same vulnerabilities as any other week.
 
If nothing else, this win tells the team that they CAN win after a bye and removes some doubt in their minds. Also, even though the D was gashed all night until late, they found a way to win - mostly thanks to King.

Curse broken! Offense worked hard during the off period. Defense forgot how to play football. Concerns still exist about preparation coming off of a bye.
