Besides getting the extra time to get guys healed up, having the extra time to prep for Ga Tech's triple option seems like an added bonus.

What are the differences between App St's option game and Ga Tech's? I would think that getting the reps against App St offense is a benefit in preparation for next week, especially for the young guys that haven't played against GT before.

I'm no guru but it's pure triple option with less misdirection and jet sweeps. same ideology though, keep them at third and long and force the qb to throw.

It's spot of the same concepts. GT has better players. As well as more formations. App St has better passing I would think.

Ga Tech's current QB could sling it. and i have a feeling they have some talent at WR

CrAPP State uses multiple looks with triple option, veer, and misdirection. They even had some zone stretch plays from 21p and overload sweeps if i recall corectly.

Gt runs that straight up flexbone majority of the time and its mostly veer option out of it. Straight up assignment football.

PJ is just good at rocking players to sleep before he hits you with it.

Right when you shut down the FB dive......Bam!

You get hit with the fake dive pitch for a big gain.

Everything App State did involved misdirection similar to GT. Players in motion every play, jet sweeps, multiple tailbacks, etc. I think App State is better coached than GT and has a better OL than GT.

I think GT's defense is improved but not a concern. There's no reason to worry at all imho.

I mean we hate the guy and he's certainly not a great head coach but the fact that he has that archaic wishbone offense still effective in 2016 is pretty crazy

Because gt will be the best team we've faced thus far I won't take them lightly, but c'mon. If everyone does their jobs, it's app all over again. GT has more talent, but still not enough. We're faster and stronger, so as long as dudes do what they're practicing all week we'll be fine.

Also, there should be plenty of YouTube vids if you want to see what they do.

Justin Thomas is a baller. He can take over the game himself and keep his team in it. That said AG was 4-1 and Richt has owned tech during his tenure at UGA as well. Should be a great opportunity to step up to the next level in talent. No turnovers and we need to run the ball. I can't see GT keeping up with us if we don't make mistakes.

only game I can find where many diaz has played the triple option

of course may not hold much weight seeing the talent discrepancy but all the same:

New Mexico vs. Texas - Box Score - September 8, 2012 - ESPN

Texas played New Mexico (who was 1-11 each of the 3 years before this game)
Texas won 45-0

New Mexico rushed 47 times for 206 yards (4.4 ypc)

they passesd 6/16 for 65 yards and a pick

very little to go off of here

a lot of posters have attributed golden's 4-1 record against GT as a sign that they knew how to contain it. I don't believe that's the case, GT has had some very down years and still managed to rush for 315 yards a game each of the last 3 years on us.

I think we'll be fine but certainly going to need some offense because I think GT will score 21+ on this defense

I'm so tired of these guys backing in to the ACCCG with that Mickey Mouse offense. I hope those days are in the past now that we finally have a competent coaching staff.

Disagree ga tech doesn't have a running back like Marcus cox

I may be alone on this but I respect GT. Their Offense usually has success against us (despite the Mickey Mouse system) and I still remember that *** rape they gave Randy Shannon's Defense not too long ago. GT's Defense is usually garbage, which is really their down fall. I agree, the bye week helps for preparation.

Just thinking how weird it is that their offense is unstoppable some years and other years not so much. It seems like there's no linear progression from one up year to the next, they win 5 games, then 11 then 8. They seem like one team that it's almost impossible to predict how they'll do preseason.

I am confident, but GT will test our young linebackers. They will need to be disciplined, and the Dline has to come to play.
