Gone are the days where top teams can out talent their opponents to wins. Last week Kent St gave UGA a bit of trouble. Players are going to make mistakes/ have miscues, that is a normal part of the sport. But multiple players consistently having miscues, drops, missed assignments, blocking issues etc is a 100% coaching/development issue. It's just easier to blame the players because they're here 3-4 years and are gone (some less than that if they hit the portal), which leaves the realization that in all likelihood the coach will be there longer so fans don't want to face a harsh reality.
