I wanted Butch as bad as anyone but I would have to be an absolute ****face to complain about landing Richt. Resumes like his don't become available hardly ever. But as far as Butch goes, linking him to the Miami job has run its course. This was his last shot and he didn't get picked. That's all there is to it. I think of him positively with the great coaches that we've had and I'm extremely grateful for the great things he did at the school. But to continue to bring him up like he's going to walk through the door at any moment to run the ship is a distraction and unhelpful for the current Richt regime. Thanks for everything Butch but it's the Richt Era.

Seriously Butch would have our defense top in the country and recruit top players for offense, all depends on who he chose as OC. Richt will get the offense humming again but not sure what the Diaz experiment will provide; although Uncle Luke could coach circles around Dorito. That said, I'm in the defense wins championships crowd but would have had Richt as a second choice all day.

IMO, Mark Richt hiring was similar when UNC hired Roy Williams. If Miami hired Butch Davis, it would been similar when UK hired John Calipari. I take Richt over Butch because he already had a somewhat relationship with 16 recruits and he doesn't have to adapt to this style of game.

Unfortunately, Mark will be measured by our expectations for Butch. When Mark was at FSU and UGA those school were patient because they had done so little before. Miami is different. I was for Butch, but Mark is our coach and is such an improvement I am excited. If he does not beat Noles and win coastal, his life will get hard faster than he is use to.

I completely agree. I was a Butch supporter also. I'd like to see how Richt does before the second guessing starts. Butch's start wasn't so rosey although he had a much worse roster to deal with. The OP has to be a troll, skips 3 coaches bewtween Richt and Butch to comp. It's the off-season and these kind of posts are bound to happen. I think Richt gets a signature win sooner than expected though. We shall see...

It's good to see fans coming together around this team. I really hope you're right. These kids and unfortunately some that have already moved on, deserve to see what it's like when Cane fans show 'em love. They gotta get that win though. I'm with you, I think Richt puts FSU on notice with a comfortable win. The team still has a lot of growing to do to become a championship caliber team. It's coming.

Our roster is good why though because we follow these kids? I dont think our roster is all that, we missed top heavy croots during AG tenure. I thibk fsus roster is better and clemson. We got guys that r still living off there hs film, i dont care what u did in HS or how fast u looked in HS. This is CFB way different animal u win at the line and our OL is awful. An awful OL can make decent teams beat u no matter how many skill guys u have.

No question noles have out recruited us, but I think we win this year. Mark needs this badly and has the one thing he needs -- a real live Miami quality QB. We had noles last two years and got out coached at halftime. I think Mark is better coach than Jimbo and has a team that is fed up with losing to noles. No doubt OL is major issue this year, but Noles have no QB.
