Butch or richt

I would've liked Butch as a Defensive Coordinator. Not as a head coach though.

Richt was just about as good as we were going to get.

Butch Davis would have had his *** handed to him in the SEC. F- Butch Davis. Quit the Canes. No trophies at UNC. Still collecting welfare. Didn't even land the FIU job. Pathetic.

What team would you rather have had...

Davis at UNC vs Richt at UGA?

I'm leaning the Richt UGA teams...therefore I'm leaning Richt is the right hire at the right time (although Davis would have been fantastic as well)...
 
Can we not have any more Butch threads. I was a huge supporter of Butch, but Miami got the guy they wanted and its time to focus on Mark Richt and what he will do here for the next 5+ years.

He lost to #12 South Carolina by 6 in his first year at UNC and that was the only time he played them. So I think the eye in your screen name needs to actually open up. Only a sour ******* (You) would hate on Butch after the miracle he worked for the school and then say he, "quit the 'Canes."
 
I wanted Butch as bad as anyone but I would have to be an absolute ****face to complain about landing Richt. Resumes like his don't become available hardly ever. But as far as Butch goes, linking him to the Miami job has run its course. This was his last shot and he didn't get picked. That's all there is to it. I think of him positively with the great coaches that we've had and I'm extremely grateful for the great things he did at the school. But to continue to bring him up like he's going to walk through the door at any moment to run the ship is a distraction and unhelpful for the current Richt regime. Thanks for everything Butch but it's the Richt Era.

Is it wrong to hope that somewhere out there is a genetic experiment to combine the best of the both of them for our 2050 head coach?
 
Butch was my first choice and I still think that he would have accomplished great success if he had been hired.

Having said that, I think that we still hit a home run by hiring coach Richt. I think he will at the very least make us a respected and feared team again.

If some of you were blowing Alfredo for the amount of years that he was here, even up to the end, then you same people better give Richt more than a fair chance to get this thing fixed.
 
I think it's possible the game has passed Butch by. No one has touched him for years now. He needs to get nice and comfy doing analysis for a retirement. Rarely does lighting strike in the same place twice. We're better off with Richt.

That's how I feel. I would have taken Butch over most others in a heartbeat, but when Mark Richt became available, and we got him, I was really, really happy.

The UNC cloud was going on before he got there, and he was cleared of all wrongdoing. As for him leaving Miami, you do realize that UM has been the cheapest administration in the country, right? Would YOU stay at a school that wasn't serious about paying you when you had an offer to make three times as much? Guaranteed at that. Just look at UM's next three hires and tell me they were serious about paying for a top coach.
