Butch or Matt Campbell

Ugh no , you just have to remove his ***** from your eyes to see it.

Do you do that for a living? I mean, it's one after another, after another with the goober-smooching.

No other points of reference?

If that's the deal - let me make a suggestion:

There's always Barber College.

It won't be so hard on your knees.

To a lot of people in here, Butch is like their first girlfriend. No one will ever compare to her. She(he in this case) is the standard.

Not true. Many of us flew the banner calling for him to be fired. He won us over on the field with unrelenting flow of talent not seen again until Saban at Bama and even that doesn’t match. Unlike Mark, Butch knows he came up short and wants another chance.

I don't hate him, I just don't get the obsession with him. It's sad, the only reason people hang on to him is because our last glory is connected to the roster he built. Twenty years ago.

If you did this about anything else in your life you'd be told " you're living in the past or in denial".

I mean move on for god sakes , it's over.

I swear Miami fans live in the past worse than Army and Navy. It took years to finally realize the spread works and everything doesn't have to be pro style.

Every position that comes open is a former cane lol. From Mario , Dorsey, Patrick, Reed ,Butch etc. Our fans are the only ones drooling for these guys lol.

How about we hire an innovative guru for once. Not another conservative, stale hire.

That's just me.

I agree. Too many cane fans are living in the last or as me and my kinfolk would say “want that old thing back”.

You do realize that Butch Davis was 5-6 in his third year of the program, right?

5-6 is 5-6. No coach gets excuses in Year 3. You guys have set that bar with Golden and Richt. Last week Laranaga (69) was too old, Butch is 67, he’s almost as old. As for do I realize that, yes. I’ve been a UM fan since I was 7 and my first game was in 1979, when UM played at Kansas. I don’t need a lecture in UM football history.

To become a HC at Miami according to our fans

1. Has to be a former player/coach
2. Understand Miami (aka played/coached here)
3. Be Cuban
4. If all those fail than he has to look like them aka Leach.

Campbell is a good candidate. His overall record at Iowa State isn't stellar, he's 19-19, but that program was an absolute dumpster fire before he got there. He's won some big games in two years. His team shows up every game, and he's never been blown out. He was also solid at Toledo, and he's got passion. Guy looked like a maniac on that sideline yesterday.

It's totally amazing to me that our fans wouldn't want Butch back. He assembled the greatest roster of talent EVER in the history of CFB. They weren't good. They were incredibly great.

Those players dominated at the college level (racking up 60 points while destroying highly ranked opponents, going undefeated, giving up an average of only 10 points on defense) and many went on to be first round picks (16 off the 2001 team) and NFL Hall of Famers, Pro Bowlers or very solid contributors.

Two of the RBs are in the Top 20 for Yards Gained in the NFL (Gore is in the Top 5). As a freshman (pre-injury), he was incredibly electric. He legitimately looked like he could be the GOAT. He was behind Portis (NFL Hall of Famer), McGahee (first round pick) and highest single season yardage total at RB at Miami (he was electric when he got to start). Davenport was also great as both a TB and FB and was drafted fairly high for someone that simply couldn't get enough touches with all those other studs at RB. He was awesome too.

Sean Taylor was looking very much like the greatest safety ever (College or Pro). Go watch his Redskins highlights. He was a man among boys and his coach (whose been around a long long time) said he was the greatest player he ever coached. Ed Reed has been ranked as a top 5 Safety ever in the NFL. He was also incredible at Miami. All four starting DBs were first round picks in the NFL. Buchanan was awesome as a punt returner in addition to being a ball hawk on defense.

Andre Johnson is a HOF player in the NFL and was great at Miami. He made it look like child's play against Nebraska in the MNC Rose Bowl game. Total stud.

TEs were Shockey (awesome in college and very good with the Giants too) and Winslow (awesome in college and very good in the NFL too).

DJ Williams and Vilma at LB (first round picks). Awesome in college. Go back and watch Vilma destroy some of the Huskers in the Rose Bowl highlights. He was highly intelligent, fast and took some heads off.

An OL that didn't give up a single sack in a season. Not one. McKinnie was awesome in college, totally shut down some great players and was a first round pick.

Wilfork -- dominant DT at both the college and pro levels. Played for the Patriots for many years during their great championship run. William Joseph -- terrific in college (made a ton of plays) and was drafted in the first round.

Please go back and watch highlights from 2000 and 2001 and tell me you wouldn't want that again. That's an insane comment. He did that coming off hella nasty sanctions that took away 31 scholarships. It's actually incredible that he did that coming off such heavy sanctions.

Saban is a great coach (legendary) but his team's haven't featured many players that went on to dominate at the next level.

I find it totally mind boggling that some of our fans wouldn't want Butch back. It is completely ridiculous. There are no arguments against him as a football coach that hold any water -- none! If you want to complain about how he left and what he said before leaving, that's fair game but we should put that behind us and get back to dominating (which he would do within a couple of years). It's obviously the UNC scandal that has limited his coaching opportunities (but he was cleared in connection with that). Newsflash: all top college programs cheat -- ALL OF THEM. Clem$on is now clearly on roids in addition to handing out bags o' cash on the recruiting trail. All the $EC programs cheat like crazy. To pretend they don't is asinine. So, anyone that gets up in arms about the UNC situation is totally clueless. The only problem Butch had was a perception problem (because the program at UNC got caught on his watch). The real key is not getting caught. EVERYBODY CHEATS except doormat programs.

If CMR hadn't been extended, we could be sending a limo to pick up Butch. Butch would absolutely kill it again at Miami. Can you imagine how strong his recruiting pitch would be? He could sell what he did before (assembling the greatest collection of talent ever) and we would be super strong in recruiting (which is a huge part of success at the college level). If CMR doesn't turn it around next season, I pray that Butch is brought in as coach at Miami.

You want that dude to come down from Iowa and recruit against saban dabo Franklin Mullen Malzahn
Jimbo Mario and others.
He would have to higher guys like Craig and Seider.
Has he even been down here to recruit?
You guys are underestimating the blood bath of negative recruiting that would happen if we hire a guy like that unless he had that team sniffing the playoffs.

Not sure Butch is the best fit, but he never lost a bowl game at the U (4 - 0).

While building the UNC program that had won something like four games the year before - Butch somehow managed to beat UM"s *** a few times with lesser talent.

That's coaching.

Ugh no , you just have to remove his ***** from your eyes to see it.

Ooooh! There you go with the ****.

Any thoughts that don't have to do with goober smooching - **** - or whatever your specialty is?

You're really into this kinky stuff - huh?
Your question is invalid.

There is no one to consider over B Davis than JJ or Schnelly.

Ever tried to tell an idiot - they're an idiot?

They just don't grasp any of it -
