Butch on 790 right now

butch davis won rings as DC with Miami and then DC for Dallas Cowboys. he would have won his last year but we got robbed. he will have the right team in place.

1 big issue with Butch is his age. He's 63, which in recruiting is a major negative. If you bring him in, gotta expect him to be here atleast 5 years. That puts him almost 70. Sorry but a 70 year old just doesnt have the energy motivation to run a program and recruit with these young guns. While he would be a great leader and coach i just dont think he has it in him at his age. I know Saban is similar age but hes been doing it year in year out and has build such a rep players line up to play for Bama. Doesnt take nearly as much.

Don't matter. He is like JayZ. Doesn't need marketing. The streets keep his name relevant. Dude when that 30 for 30 "U2" comes out in two weeks Butchs name will once again be the hottest in the streets! UM admin is just the worst not capitalizing on this potential free promo! Could you imagine if we dump Als a$$, hire Butch, and when "U2" premieres..and they say "What if I told you..... the U was back!" and it pans to a modern day Butch throwin' up the U! (a man can dream right? smh)

Yea Snyder isnt a great recruiter. Hes an awesome intelligent coach that has done it same way with exception of his hiatus for like 30 years. He would fail miserably in Miami. Takes a specific type of guy to coach here.

We don't need Butch or any coach to be around for 20+ years. Coral Gables isn't Pedo State.

In fact, I expect any succesful coach at UM to get burned out after 7-10 years on the job. At Miami, you need to outwork programs with bigger budgets. And Butch is hungry for redemption - he's got the energy to turn this thing around within a few seasons.

A good coach can turn any program around in short order. And Miami needs a quick fix in the worst way imaginable.

On paper i agree with you. I think its more likely he comes back in a d-coor role. Would be a win-win for us. Wouldnt need 19 hour work days outta him but we still get his name/rep/coaching.

Please save us, Butch.

Go whoever plays us in whatever useless late December bowl no one gives two s**** about. It's f***ing appalling that we even have to care about how a 6-6 team in a coach's fourth year performs in a bowl game, but the administration has made it come to this.

If they didn't fire him for 6-6 I find it hard to believe they'd fire him for 6-7. That's like a 400 pound dude deciding to go on a diet because he ballooned up to 403 pounds.

You almost have to try to be bad enough to lose 6 games at UM with a roster full of NFL players playing the feeble competition we play.

If Butch gave me Five good years here I would be more than happy. He would come in and rebuild the program like in the late 90's and 2000 and possibly win a championship. The next coach in would be setup for years, kinda like coker.

Hey, kid, I pumped out first rounder after first rounder. Every watch him? Or him?

LMAO.

It'd be easy.

With all of Butch's warts this program would be better off with him as CEO right now. He wouldn't need to rebuild the program and with his eye for talent could have a playoff caliber team next year. He could coach for 4-5 years and groom a coach in waiting or some other succession plan.

Unfortunately we have a dysfunctional - incompetent - negligent administration with a scorched earth mentality and a disgruntled walking dead coach who tried to bolt a year ago. Who knows what long term damage he is doing to the program

Butch doesn't need to be here 15 years.

A great 5-7 year run would get us back on track. Plus I think the time off from coaching has been good for him. He's DYING to get back in the game.

Recruiting under Butch is the least of my concerns.

More inanity. Davis is the single greatest evaluator of HS talent that has ever lived. That doesn't disappear when you turn 60.

The HC isn't the guy doing all the legwork. He's not running around the country day and night. He's the guy who tells guys like Hurlie who to go get for him and who to stay away from. And Davis is the best that ever lived at that.

lol @ 63 being too old. 80% of a teams recruiting is done by the staff anyway. Golden aint doing any more recruiting than Davis would. He's just posting silly videos about it to make it look like he is killing himself out there.

HC does way more legwork than assistants. For a turnaround project like Miami is now. At least turnaround to get back into national title contender, its gonna take alot on Butch's part. I agree he would only be here for 5 years or so, just long enough to turn things around and help hand pick a younger successor with momentum.

So ******* stupid. We could have Butch Davis recruiting the 2016 class right now and instead we have some dumb **** from Jersey ruining the program.

The good thing about a guy like Butch davis is you know he will surround himself with good people one of which will be capabale of taking over when he decides to hang it up

So according to ___THEU___, Davis's 63 years is more of a detriment than Saban's 63 years. Makes sense.
