I know about "getting hammered by the NCAA"

Everyone talks about how that is such a great excuse for how great Butch was. Miami was still heralded. It's the same thing after Coker or when Golden took over. The difference between those were that it was far after the championship. Butch wasn't far off from the championship.

He took over for a National Championship coach. Period. Despite the sanctions we still had the momentum. I know all about how he put players on track scholarships. That's how he skated around it, and you know what he just kept the train that Jimmy, and Ericson, and Schnelly all started.

He hasn't amounted to sh*t anywhere else. It wasn't him... It was us..

And we don't need Butch. He needs us, and we can get someone better.

Back up the bus. Yes, Howard won a NC before Butch ever touched Greentree. That is the ONLY NC Butch did not recruit the players for. The next 4 were won by players HE recruited. He was JJ's head recruiter for number 2, and left the players for Dennis to win numbers 3 & 4. Then he did the same for Larry to win number 5. We know we an win a NC with Howard and we know ANYONE can win a NC at THE U with BUTCH'S players. That is what we know. Want we don't know is if even Saban can win a NC at Miami without Butch's players. You are right about one thing, outside of Miami, Butch is not so great. What are ignoring is that without Butch's recruiting, Miami isn't much either.

By the way, Don Shula never won another Super Bowl after he ran out of Joe Thomas's players either. And how did JJ do at the Dolphins without Butch on his staff? JJ always said it is more about the Jimmie's and the Joes than the X's & O's. Butch just gets the best Jimmie's and Joe's when at THE U.
