Lots of discussion how Coach X, Y, or Z started off rough only to lead a program to greater heights...

Big Manny is off to an awesome Y1 start at 3-4.

How did Butch DAW GAWD do when he first walked the sidelines as Miami's HC? What about Chip "Don't Call Me Brian" Kelly?

Butch DAW GAWD
1995 8-3
1996 9-3 (W Carquest)
1997* 5-6 (FLY THE BANNERS)
1998 9-3 (W Micron PC)
1999 9-4 (W Gator)
2000 11-1 (W Sugar)

Chip Kelly
2018 3-9
2019 4-8
2020 3-4
2021 8-4 (Cx'd Holiday)
2022 6-1

Based on analysis to date, Canes probably have 2-ish more Ws on schedule making Miami bowl ineligible without "even though you are King of Suck Balls Mountain, we'll give one more chance at humiliation" waiver.

I believe Big Manny inherited a roster much closer to 2018's UCLA than 1995's Hurricanes (already in trouble). With that in mind, we are very likely seeing a trend more towards Kelly's arc than Butch DAW GAWD. Again, Big Manny is installing a multi-year plan to win and is under no/little pressure to win right now. Y4/Y5 is when we'll really see if he can put the Canes back on the map.

Sorry if I sound lost, which I am. I just want to comprehend this, Big Manny is Mario?

He’s not fixing anything if he doesn’t become flexible, turn hiring and game day coaching decisions over to another OC and DC.

I am shocked we still have a class in tact though there’s time. That’s our only hope.
