Now they want to fire him but he won't go because it's cheaper to pay him for another season and then fire him while still having to pay him some sort buyout for the remainder of the contract. SO they are going to end up paying him basically the same **** or do they think keeping him means he doesn't have to get paid while being employed by the University. Oh wait I get it, we're supposed to believe that his agent got him this insurmountable contract buyout, but failed to secure any financial gain for his client over the final 4 years of the contract. Besides if she's involved with picking the new prez then what difference does it make if she gets rid of some of the garbage she left behind as well on her way out the door.

Point blank if he is as hated and if they wanted him out so much he would be ***ing gone. Stop with the he'll never work again, nationally some idiots still believe he's a decent coach and even worse dogs have been rehired after failing miserably because he can still do songs and dances in front of people and that's why dogs always land other coaching jobs. It's not like Muschamp didn't want his money also just because he wanted out of UF as much as they wanted him gone. So UF and Muschamp worked something out? Why don't these ******** try to work something out with Golden to get him to leave instead of just hoping someone takes him away free of charge to compensate for the mistake they made, because they simply DO NOT CARE ENOUGH! I laughed at Ted's claim that this might be the first time any of the titans on the BOT made a mistake. Those trust fund weasels have made just as many mistakes as anyone else their age. They just have daddy's money to bail them out of their mistakes when they make them.

They're not hanging onto Folden for football or legitimate financial reasons. So it has to be something else.

I disagree. Golden is a small fish in a medium sized pond. You'd be surprised how unwilling the Very Wealthy are to admit a Mistake.

Golden has nothing on these people.

My Evidence: Steven Ross. And he's bigger than any whale on the BOT ( I think). And he won't let Philbin go.

he wouldn't let Philbin go because he knew that only guy he really wanted was going to be the HC at the school he loves more than the team he owns.
It's the problem UM has no one really cares that much. There is no Phil, TBone, or Ross who really love this school program over everything. Look at how many BOT members don't have any real ties to the school much less the football program, being on the BOT is just a nice status symbol for a lot of them to help stroke their egos. There is very little that can't be negotiated in this country and the fact Golden is still the coach proves that no one is really trying to negotiate and get him out of here.

Not disagreeing with any of that, I'm just sharing their line of thinking which does all source back to football not being a priority at all.

Whether the BOT are successful businessmen is meaningless to this discussion. Stephen Ross is doing the exact same **** thing with the Dolphins. Just because someone is succesful in the business world, doesn't mean they can't ***** up a football program/franchise.

And if it was all about BOT apathy, Golden would be coaching UM through his 2020 contract (instead of him being fired on November 28th, 2015 - which is inevitably going to happen - baring some miracle).

I think this is spot on. It's not caring enough about the football program combined with wanting to wait because of the presidential search. I doubt it's ego. We're not talking about one person here who can be pointed at as making the mistake. It's a group. Individual members of the group aren't going to feel the same level of responsibility for the mistake as they would if they were acting alone.

Whether the BOT are successful businessmen is meaningless to this discussion. Stephen Ross is doing the exact same **** thing with the Dolphins. Just because someone is succesful in the business world, doesn't mean they can't ***** up a football program/franchise.

So next year the BOT won't have an ego that's above admitting they made a mistake anymore. Ross isn't keeping Philbin because of his ego, it's because the coach he wanted was going to coach the team that he cares about more than he does the Dolphins (**** his donations are helping pay for Harbaughs salary). So in the end he doesn't really care, just like the BOT doesn't really care. Nov 28, 2015 won't make their egos go away, they just won't be able to avoid the problem because they won't have any excuses to fall back on anymore (the make believe cloud will have been gone for over two seasons, the new prez will be in place so that's no longer a distraction, and hopefully fans aren't just talking out of their asses when they say they aren't contributing to the program anymore and the BOT's show us don't tell us stance will blowup in there face).

you guys are to much ego and buyouts go away in 2015 everybody ZHcRlhV.webp

The scariest part in all of this is that they are just now "realizing the program may be teetering."

There appears to be not one sound football mind among the decision makers.

I guess these people fail to realize the cataclysmic damage that will be caused by retaining him. You're looking at potential transfers of young talent, an awful recruiting class, and yet another wasted season.

The level of dysfunction around UM football next year will be at an all time high. This is such a toxic situation and it will only get worse.

Butch & Mark May together. LOL Now there's a contest of who can out talk who & how fast....:unconscious:

Butch is basically on ESPN right now begging for the Miami HC job.

What did he say?

I heard he was comparing Harbaugh going back to Michigan to when he went to UM in 1995 lol.

This whole situation is overly mind numbing in every way possible. The whole situation could not have been scripted any better with the U 2 release and Golden losing for the BOT's to fire Folden and BBB. Butch is begging for the job through TV and the Miami Herald and would take it on the cheap. How have the BOT's been so successful in life considering they are being so incompetent and or egotistical with this **** show?

To everybody, you're all hitting it on the head.

The contract blows, the school wants him out, he wants out, everybody and their brother wants him out but he isn't going to walk away from that money and if he gets fired, he'll go the Randy route and will never heard from again in the head coaching ranks. Randy's football accomplishments were a lot more impressive Golden's and he's coaching linebackers for a 6-6 (2-8) team. There's so much red tape to it with the administration turnover as well.

The money they lose is going to just compound the money that they're paying which is why they're in desperation mode with all these, "Just Hold For Next Year," comments. They want to cushion the money loss as best as possible.

In the wildest dream of the administration, they never would have guessed that the program would have collapsed this year like it did. They were led to believe this was going to be a 10 win season. That's their own fault, again, and they will pay the incredibly steep price for it as they should and more.

As far as Butch goes, there's a chance and there will always be a chance until further notice. That's all I got until school starts back up.

I am sure someone could put a spread sheet showing what they think they are saving and what it really is going to cost, I would venture a guess, they will lose a lot more from loss of revenue from all sales.

That will probably happen when we come back for school.

@919cane: I would say it's beyond realm. He wont leave unless he has a major job waiting and there isn't one.

@Cane Dynasty: My guess would be that they think fans are bluffing. Also, Golden was handpicked by a lot of the admin and BOT. For them to admit that he's not just a failure, but a colossal failure, would be the first time many of these very successful and egocentric people have failed or admitted to failing in their lives.

@section9: Donna hadn't been on campus since her mother died until the last day of the semester. She missed the Edna Shalala 5K. She's not asleep at the wheel; she isn't even at the wheel. The school, especially with the football team, is reactionary and in their view it's probably too late at this stage in the game to act. We'll see.
So sack the ***** and hire someone else.

**** this lame duck year where everyone refuses to make any decision until the new President is in. The football programme will be dead and buried by that point.

Even if that is the right thing to do, that's now what they are going to do.

@WhatTheHell: Other than Bernie Kosar and Paul Dimare, football is not at the forefront of their decisions.
