Butch Davis

To everybody, you're all hitting it on the head.

The contract blows, the school wants him out, he wants out, everybody and their brother wants him out but he isn't going to walk away from that money and if he gets fired, he'll go the Randy route and will never heard from again in the head coaching ranks. Randy's football accomplishments were a lot more impressive Golden's and he's coaching linebackers for a 6-6 (2-8) team. There's so much red tape to it with the administration turnover as well.

The money they lose is going to just compound the money that they're paying which is why they're in desperation mode with all these, "Just Hold For Next Year," comments. They want to cushion the money loss as best as possible.

In the wildest dream of the administration, they never would have guessed that the program would have collapsed this year like it did. They were led to believe this was going to be a 10 win season. That's their own fault, again, and they will pay the incredibly steep price for it as they should and more.

As far as Butch goes, there's a chance and there will always be a chance until further notice. That's all I got until school starts back up.

I am sure someone could put a spread sheet showing what they think they are saving and what it really is going to cost, I would venture a guess, they will lose a lot more from loss of revenue from all sales.

The situation sounds ripe for a compromise from each side. Is that beyond the realm? This is beyond absurd.

I don't get how their business dev. people aren't screaming about how bad of a business decision this is.

LULZ at these pikers. If they're really wringing their hands over a few million bucks that they could pay off over several years, then this program truly is dead.

Have they noticed what the fck is going on around them? Michigan forking over $8M/year because they don't want to continue being 2nd fiddle in their state and Ohio State's bytch every year.

FSU bumping Jizzbo up to $5M per. Bama now obligated to pay Saban a dollar more than Harbaugh gets. Ufayg paying Muscrap $7M to leave then giving CSU $7M just for the right to hire their HC.

I don't want to hear this fake **** about UM being broke or unable to compete financially either. They're more than able. They just choose not to.

we need to buyout golden now but just for arguments sake the programs u listed there made this in profits from only football last year:

bama. 47 million
michigan. 58 million
gators. 49 million

btw w that gator deal, they def overpaid for a guy who i think will end up being their al golden.

we still need to fire golden now regardless of the buyout amount bc this program is a mess right now.

They could put Butch on retainer. That is, pay him a half-million to be the coach in waiting, for 2016.

This could accomplish a couple of things:

1. Publicly and totally undermine Goldie. He might quit.

2. Let Butch start recruiting the next class, and his coaching staff.

3. Of course, this next season would be totally lost, but it already is.

Hasn't ANYONE gone to these Educated Fools on the Board and told them that the Team is in free fall?

If, this week, Donna bit the bullet and paid off Golden (yes, with a Non-Disclosure Clause as part of the Settlement; she's not stupid), and went ahead and rehired Butch, everything would turn around in a New York Minute.

But they don't seem to see that.

+1 for appropriate use of "pikers".

Where is all the UM money? All the money these schools are dishing out for coaches is crazy! Private school, State school, doesn't matter all these schools have plenty of cash. Harbaugh almost $50 million, Mcelwain, Muschamp(coord). These schools are invested in winning, they will pay whatever, do whatever to win. We are MIAMI spend dome $$$ and fix this ****show

That will probably happen when we come back for school.

@919cane: I would say it's beyond realm. He wont leave unless he has a major job waiting and there isn't one.

@Cane Dynasty: My guess would be that they think fans are bluffing. Also, Golden was handpicked by a lot of the admin and BOT. For them to admit that he's not just a failure, but a colossal failure, would be the first time many of these very successful and egocentric people have failed or admitted to failing in their lives.

@section9: Donna hadn't been on campus since her mother died until the last day of the semester. She missed the Edna Shalala 5K. She's not asleep at the wheel; she isn't even at the wheel. The school, especially with the football team, is reactionary and in their view it's probably too late at this stage in the game to act. We'll see.

I am dumbfounded by the incompetence of the AD, Administration and BOT. Hopefully, with these parents talking poorly of the coaching staff and the transfer rumors becoming true, it will force them to make a move. Not looking good.

if we make this a social media nightmare things will change sooner rather than later

2015 is going to be an unmitigated disaster for this program if they don't pull the trigger on Al. I think 99% of the people here know that. Unfortunately, the UM powers are betting the other way.

It's amazing how dumb the people are who run this school. Complete ******* retards, and the actual intelligent people on the board clearly don't give enough of a **** to actively oversee the school. Lol at it now being too late in the game to do anything with Golden. No **** ****heads. This should have been done last year when he tried to ******* leave after his garbage finish to the season. Then again this year after Virginia, then after Pitt.

Why are the people in charge the last ones to realize everything? And the scary thing is, I still don't think they fully realize what the **** is going on.

It's like watching the government of Tsar Nikolai implode in 1917. Nobody has their hand on the tiller and James is too frightened to make a move.

Thanks THO. Just thought that if the buyout is 7-8 million, he would agree to take 5 to go away considering the fact that he wants out as well. My bad for trying to look for some rationality in this scenario.

blah blah blah song.gif. A couple months ago 5 was the magic number especially if they were of the blowout variety and he not only did that but he did it with two middle fingers in the air buy losing 7 games and having blowout loses to dogs like UVA and Pitt. Now they want to fire him but he won't go because it's cheaper to pay him for another season and then fire him while still having to pay him some sort buyout for the remainder of the contract. SO they are going to end up paying him basically the same **** or do they think keeping him means he doesn't have to get paid while being employed by the University. Oh wait I get it, we're supposed to believe that his agent got him this insurmountable contract buyout, but failed to secure any financial gain for his client over the final 4 years of the contract. GMAFB. If they really wanted him gone he'd be gone already just like the two coaches prior to him were and don't give me the Shalala doesn't want to burden a new prez with a new coach or did everyone forget the little hefer came into the program that lost it's head football coach a week after the previous Prez announced he was quitting . Besides if she's involved with picking the new prez then what difference does it make if she gets rid of some of the garbage she left behind as well on her way out the door.

Point blank if he is as hated and if they wanted him out so much he would be ***ing gone. Stop with the he'll never work again, nationally some idiots still believe he's a decent coach and even worse dogs have been rehired after failing miserably because he can still do songs and dances in front of people and that's why dogs always land other coaching jobs. Besides ESPN will scoop him up in a New York minute to be an analyst just like all the other dogs that have been fired in the past including mumble mouth *** Randy. It's not like Muschamp didn't want his money also just because he wanted out of UF as much as they wanted him gone. So UF and Muschamp worked something out? Why don't these ******** try to work something out with Golden to get him to leave instead of just hoping someone takes him away free of charge to compensate for the mistake they made, because they simply DO NOT CARE ENOUGH! Yeah I'm sure that's the same way they approach their personal business endevours just waiting around for someone else to fix their mistake meh.gif

I say this with all due respect, but get the fck out of my face with this faqqoty "we ain't got no money" ****. It's a lame fcking excuse. We can pay what any other power 5 team can if we want to.
