Easy, his ego led him to one of the worst teams ever in the nfl ( Cleveland ). He could’ve been the best coach ever at the U and a legend. But he ****ed on us at the time.
He should have been given a shot at redemption. We've suffered for a long time because of our refusal to do so.

Dude if the bar for judging him as a coach is beating us last year then that's pretty sad.

Outside of one really incredible team he put together here, he's been a perennial 7-9 game winner his entire 20 year HC career.

He's FAU's B...I....T....C....H

Why can't we put the kitties on our schedule so I don't have to see their 305 champs t-shirts anymore.

I'm confused about that. So were 1-1 against him while he's been at FIU. We beat the pants off them at the Rock and their players were caught crying getting on to their busses. So how are they champs?

You must not have been around then. It was a battle of egos with Tad Foote. Foote felt envious, they were stealing his thunder. He made conditions so difficult they had no choice. Do you really think Howard thought that leaving for the USFL (or whatever that league was) was a advancing his career? You don't think JJ had an easy out when his college roommate bought the Cowboys?

With Howard you have a point. With JJ Tad could have signed up to Blow him for a year and he was still leaving to go to the Cowgirls.

Sorry buddy, we suffered a long time because he lied to recruits, the AD and BOT and his own players while secretly negotiating with Cleveland before hauling *** to the football abyss for the money.

He made that burning bed himself and no amount of revising history by him is going to change that. He deserved nothing and never earned the right to be here after leaving. He's been a middle of the road, 5 to 9 win, twice fired coach since he left.

I get u but he burned his bridges when he left. That was the issue

You're not wrong and I was bitter for a really long time too. With the benefit of hindsight, I'd much rather have swallowed my pride and hired him back than have the suffered through any of the last 16 years.

Only if you make the assumption he would have stayed instead of bolting somewhere else for more money again or more importantly, continued to do what he was only able to do once in his 20 year coaching career.

It's my fantasy world, so yes, that's exactly what happened. We'd have been a dynasty.
