Butch Davis

Butch is the GOAT evaluator ever. Anyone who says orherwise is an offense to humanity. He proved it in the ‘80s, 90’ into ,’00, at UM and in Dallas.

Shut up with that right place right time stuff. He REBUILT it.

I disagree E a bit. He fell off his incredible pace in both Cleveland and Raleigh. Doesn't make him a failure, doesn't lessen what he accomplished at other stops at all.

He was the right talent in the right place at the right time.

It's brutally hard to replicate all three necessary components again and again.

I will.say this, my gut tells me that if given a chance again at Miami....CFB watch out.

I'm 100% Team Manolo...until he gives me reason not to be...and I'm definitely all in on Team JJ and Team BD.

My hope is Manny reaches their heights at Miami.

Apparently some people on here don’t get that the ninth rated class in C USA is really really bad when you’re based in Miami. Especially for a guy that is supposed to be a recruiting God.

Butch Muthafukkin Davis, y’all

Players notified.
Dude, you're pretty smart. Think about Mario and how he's doing at Oregon vs FIU. It's not that it's in Miami, it's that it's FIU. Butch had already surpassed what Mario did in just 2 years. In both recruiting, last year's class was their best ever and record. Last year was the most wins in program history. Now imagine Butch at a major program. The dude has a gift and he's still very lucid.

Ehhhh we go back to back for sure...

03 is a maybe that defense was special and maybe butch finds a better Brock Berlin...

Maybe we cool for a bit while reloading... but moving to the ACC in the coastal stacking chips we would have dominated the conference early and been fighting for nattys consistently
See, this guy is using his brain and taking emotions out of it.

Butch produces Hall of Famers. Last one to bring the U a natty (which he would have enjoyed the fruits of his labor if the admin didn't fvck around with his contract)

We know that he produced Hall of Famers because it happened so long ago that his recruits have now retired from the NFL and become eligible for the HOF. Can we find anything he's done in anyone's recent memory, though?

Butch is done. I appreciate what he did in resurrecting the program, but he’s one of those guys that’s never, anywhere he’s ever been, able to get over the hump.

No offense, everything about Butch with you guys is “he could’ve done this, he could’ve done that” but the fact remains he didn’t do it. In the end that’s all that counts. He has never anywhere gotten over the hump. And you guys will find an excuse for each and everyone of his failures.

Yes, I appreciate what he did for us, yes, he used to be a fantastic recruiter during a DIFFERENT ERA in college football. That era is long dead and buried.

This is 2019 and Butch’s time has passed as far as the Miami Hurricanes. He will never be coach of the Miami Hurricanes. Ever.

Why waste time talking about a guy that is no longer with the program, and will never be part of the program? Can somebody answer that question for me?

But be did succeed. He is the reason we had back to back (should have been 3) national titles* Coker stood on the sidelines and clapped. The proof is when Butch's players left, Clappy's teams (even though highly recruited) fell apart. We're still trying to recover. Those are facts and so is that Butch is the best evaluator, developer and recruiter as a whole than anyone on the planet. He hasn't forgotten how to do it. If Rorcht hadn't been fired, he would be here and we would be in a great position moving forward. When Rorcht retired recently rumors of contact came out and those reasons and honestly the vicious hatred for him after what he did here, is why he is talked about so much. However, now with Manny I'm excited and now agree, Butch won't coach here again but I think he will build FIU into a solid competitor, given what he has to work with.

i’m excited about the future, but on the topic of butch, imo people fail to appreciate his goatness as a talent evaluator. In our lifetimes, him and JJ were the best, but butch did it without jj and jj always had butch.

Your comments miss the mark. He didnt have full practical control in cleveland like jj did initiall in dallas, nor an organization that could free up the picks to change the roster. As for NC, he actually found some very good talent there in a pretty short time.

In any case, butch is old and an’t coming back. And he had other deficiencies as a coach. But as far as identifying talent, he had no peer. It’s not really even debatable.

And I could give three shlts about FIU.

They are a nice to commuter school with a little high school stadium and a huge inferiority complex. Otherwise who gives a shlt.

Serious question. Why do we have to keep hearing about this guy? And I’m not sure who’s vicious hatred you’re talking about.

Lol, which is why I keep saying how it's amazing what he's doing in just 2 years there. I don't think he'll be talked about as much going forward for the reasons I aforementioned but if you haven't read the viscous hatred for him, you haven't read much of any threads about anything to do with Butch. People can make a thread about Howard, Jimmy, Dennis (all who left for advancement) and people will bow down. Make a comment about Butch, about anything and watch the pit bulls come out. It's ludicrous.

I don’t hate him, i’m just not obsessed with him.

He was really good for us from 1995 to 2000, and hasn’t done anything for the program since then.

If you do the math, the last time Butch had anything to do with the Miami Hurricanes was almost 20 years ago. So why would I care about him? Newsflash: I don’t care about him, other than discussing him in this post because people keep bringing him up.

I also think some of the hatred towards Butch is due to his despicable recruiting practices at and after the Sean Taylor funeral. That shlt was pretty much unforgivable.

I wasn't referring to you, I haven't seen you really comment hatefully. I have a very very hard time believing the man who recruited Sean and developed him his first few years would then go to his funeral all the way to Miami and talk **** about him. I hear this mentioned a lot and that sounds extremely unbelievable to me.

No he didn’t talk trash about Sean. He was using Sean’s murder as a way to recruit negatively against Miami.

My question is - Why do we have to keep hearing FROM YOU?

Nobody give a **** about your opinion.

Those times your parents told you they loved you? They were lying. Probably to get you to STFU!

You have to keep hearing from me because I love annoying your sawft ***.

Cry some more like a baby girl, it gives me the laughs.

I’m going to keep posting shlt about your washed up god just to annoy your ignorant ***.

You are somewhat annoying, like sand in the crack of urass - but nothing of any real consequence.

I would be disappointed if you didn't talk **** about Butch - he obviously reminds you of the daddy you never had - but longed for.

It's a psychological projection - too complicated to detail here - you poor thing.

Keep following me around, it’s amusing.

And guess what, it’s still not going to bring butchy boy back. He will never be part of Miami hurricanes football ever again.

In fact, the last time he had anything to do with the program was 20 years ago. What do you have to say about that?
