Butch Davis would’ve had this team competing with Clemson

This time, he'd not suffer no bowl game bans, and on top of that - the loss of 31 scholarships.

He'd jump right in, feet first and splash the water out of EVERYONE'S little football puddle.

Not playing younger more talented players cause upperclassmen deserve that? Who the fvck says or does that? Doesn’t that exact quote mean winning isn’t more important?

Yep I’m too easy yet the majority of this board seem to agree with me. Miami Hurricane fans are very smart football people and I learned that through the Golden’s years. People called for his head long before I eventually thought enough was enough. I was in the minority for wanting him fired and I was dead wrong and the majority was right. You seem to be in the minority on this subject and still a Richt slurper. Get used to 8-5 every year until he’s eventually fired. Good day and enjoy your mediocre life.

This ain’t NCAA Dynasty Mode. Nor, is it 10 years ago. It takes longer than that to change culture and build rosters in today’s college game. It also takes some luck.

Lincoln Riley took over a machine at OU. Stoops had that program Top 5. Riley has elevated it.

Look where Petersen is at Washington. Elevated them, but they aren’t legit national championship contenders.

Richt inherited a Top 40 program. He’s improved it. But definitely not to the point most believe he should.

Maybe Butch would be better at this point? Maybe Cristobal would be better? Maybe Shiano would be better? Maybe Scott Satterfield would have been better?

We’ll never know on any of the other coaches, so the BBB crew can continue the “what if”, and there’s nothing concrete to indicate they’re wrong.

Look where he’s coached and the talent he’s had. If Saban coaches Westminister and I coached STA I would be 10-0 against him. UGA had 10 wins every year cause they played 3 cupcakes every year and GT. Not to mention Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky and Vanderbilt have been crap programs for well over a decade. UNC was trash when he took over and he made them better. FIU was a bottom 5 program and they just won 9 games. Richt has the program no better then where it was then when he started.

They can hate till their blue in the face...means absolutely nada to me... All I know is, the the most unbelievable coincidence in UM history is that UMs irelevence coincided with the last of Butch's kids leaving in 2004....

Every team plays three cupcakes and the bottom feeders of their conference. No one outside of maybe the SEC West is playing a murderers row schedule. Richt’s no different than any other coach when it comes to strength of schedule.

Don’t understand how some of you keep trying to downplay Richt’s wins and make excuses for Butch’s mediocrity.

How long does the no talent excuse give him a pass? How long is long enough for Butch to build a program?

People on here claim we’d be competing with Clemson in year three but in three previous head coaching gigs his career record is 20-20 in year FOUR.

You mean right around the time Butch was getting fired and starting the ugliest decline in coaching history. Miami > Cleveland > UNC > FIU. What’s next, Norland?

Plus he has only had a year five once, and he managed to lose a game with the “greatest team of all time”.
