I'd be willing to bet there'd be some names on a Butch staff that would have instant recognition and respect from local kids. The coaches are a non-issue. They know who he is.

In a lot of the local neighborhoods, Butch is well known.

Not that this is a all-encompassing example - but you ask Uncle Luke about Butch Davis. He's sent lots of kids who couldn't get an offer from UM to Alabama, FSU, Florida, and everywhere else.

The announcement of Butch as Head Coach will immediately garner the attention of every player that really wants to play in the NFL. As of a year ago, Butch has put more players in the NFL than Nick Saban.

And the NFL finds that Butch's crew is ready to immediately impact their own teams. They're ready NOW.

The recruiting would be incredible. He'd sign some "no-names" like he did before (Vilma, Morgan...). But we all know how some of those "no-names" turned out....

He has an eye for talent.

One change he may have made at UNC, though, was that he had a lot of tall DEs - 6'6" / 6'7" that played for him there....

Other than that, he had two of the top LBs in the country on the field at the same time for a year or two in Miami (Vilma and DJ) and replicated it at UNC (Carter and Sturdivant)....that alone is amazing....

one thing that always impressed me about butch besides the obvious eye for talent was how jacked up his guys looked. He would improve our S&C by hiring the right guy so that our guys would start to look like an SEC team.
