Same rap I heard when I was saying we should hire Petrino. "No one will hire him" "he's toxic" "why hasn't anyone hired him other than wku?".
No one will hire him until someone hires him. Then, he'll start building another great roster, and all the UNC **** will fade away just like Petrino's supposedly fatal issues did.

For the record, Butch Davis, just like Jimmy Johnson, graduated from Arkansas.
If the timing works out, Arkansas would LOVE to have them some Butch.
We got some real dumbass fans about Butch, but after the Heisman Awards, and THE U PART TWO airs, those that still have a few firing neurons between their ears will actually catch on.

I understand "blind loyalty", so I'll keep this simple.
Butch was cleared by the NCAA, meaning they did not/could not connect him to the dirt.
BUT ... UNC DID connect him to the dirt. They just decided against blowing him up about it, and instead, simply terminated him and paid his buyout because of the "shame". They fired Butch before most of the major stuff had come to light ...
The reality for UNC is that they had been doing dirt for awhile, and it wasn't resulting on the field the way it was on the basketball court.
Y'all could argue Butch needed 1 or 2 more seasons to get them going ... And maybe y'all would be accurate. But the AD didn't see the reward of keeping Butch outweighing the risks. And as the new guy in the job, he made the call.
Will another AD get desperate for a big name coach? Absolutely! And Butch will get another 5-year deal from someone. But I doubt it's a major program ... And I doubt he has the kind of results that will make all the poor performing major regret not hiring him.
But "the other coach" is always like the back-up QB for us fans ... Better than the starter, when the starter ain't good. And completely irrelevant when the starter is good.

UNC IS THE DIRT. They were doing this crap before Butch. It is an administrative scandal as much as sports. Butch was high profile and got fired as sop to ncaa. He might well have been involved, I don't know, but the school was in it up to its elbows. As we saw in our own scandal, the administration gets free ride. Donna was most dirty person in our deal; Randy, the head football coach was actually the voice in the desert. Football program got tortured: Donna comes out as hero to many fools. Given the fact that Butch Davis was Miami HC, built almost all our great teams, and the hate ncaa has for anything Miami football, I would think they would have burned him at the stake with the slimmest of evidence. He got a clearance letter instead. I am tired of self-righteous, better-than-everyone, whores of education, university presidents getting free rides for the evil THEIR institutions do. The only right thing ncaa has done was get ride of pus President TOO.

Not sure who said nobody would hire Petrino. Back then and now I could definitely see some schools hiring Petrino. I think Davis is too hot for almost all schools right now, but with time I could envision some craven ADs at certain schools hiring him or at least contemplating it.

Davis isn't working as a coach because he is in the unique position of getting 2 paychecks for one job as long as that job isn't "coaching". Until Jan 2015. So two more months.
What a coincidence, that will be soon after the Heisman and The U Pt. 2 night.

Butch and his former agent made a play for the job in the past. That ship has long ago sailed. Also Jerry Jones has a major say in Arkansas coaching hires. Obviously, he's no fan of Jimmy's, so don't know how that might impact Butch.

Totally agree with this.
don't remember anyone saying Petrino wouldn't be hired either. When he was let go from Arkansas, it was a "moral" issue which many people can and will overlook.
Davis apparently doesn't give a fux about academics, and at least had knowledge of--if not encouraged players to go into--fraudulent classes to stay eligible on the field. That gets to the heart of CFB and the lip service played to "student-athletes"...it'll be a while before some unscrupulous AD gives him a look.
