Its a good thing he didnt coach the 2001 team because with out a doubt he does something stupid to mess up the NC.

Butch Davis wasn't the best gameday coach by any means but I don't think he would of messed that season up. Had he stayed he would have won at least 2 more championships

You obviously don't remember how he screwed up trying to play the nice guy role and gave Bowden the shot at OU.

You guys need to remember is 2000 there was no BCS or playoff.. FSU jumped UM(even though Miami beat FSU) to eventually lose to a Oklahoma. That Miami team would have dismantled that Oklahoma team. I was in person for the 2000 Sugar Bowl. Florida had no shot..

This happened over a decade ago. At the time Butch coached the U, Carroll's tenure with USC hadn't begun yet. Chip Kelly was the offensive coordinator -- at the University of New Hampshire.

The game has changed. Butch did okay at UNC -- not great, not bad -- but that was four years ago. He's in his sixties. For all saying he's the clear-cut slam dunk choice, there's just as much a risk that the game has passed him by and it's a disastrous hire that forces us to hit the reset button again in 2-3 years.

...fifteen years ago. There's no indication he could build the same thing now. The game has changed.

For example, Santana Moss came to UM on a track scholarship. There's NO WAY something like that happens again with the modern game the way it is. No shot.
