• Quitting on the Browns with five games remaining in the 2004 season after having a “panic attack” during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

None of that mattered. The guy intentionally joined a franchise that had already committed to Tim Couch.

Butch Davis' NFL career was essentially over before it began. I posted that on numerous sites at the time. Couch had the marvelous combination of a crank up delivery, no arm, and no athletic ability.

Other than that he was a perfect choice to build your franchise around. The Browns were so stupid they went back and talked themselves into drafting Tim Couch, even though his early workout for them was so poor they had decided against him.
