Burns Question for Pete and anyone in the know

Despite earning a Glass Joe rep at the U (at least with the fans) he is a stout bodied runner, who, if healthy, could really help us next year. Is there an intel about how he's doing, how the coaches feel he is progressing and what the staff feels he can contribute next year and moving forward?

I love his potential, if he can stop getting hurt. A 220lb back with speed and some moves, can wear down a D in the 2nd half. His film sort of reminded me of a tinier version of earl Campbell or Bettis.
you lost me when you compared burns to Campbell and Bettis. Once again a poster makes an extravagant statement that is fantasy.

Not sure but if you’re dressing for games, I have to believe you’re practicing...no?

You dress for the games for a reason. He's clearly been practicing and was on the sidelines just in case they needed another player.

Quick anecdote . . . I bumped into a kid in full UM football team gear at the Wellness Center. I assumed he was a walk-on linebacker. Did a double-take and realized it was Burns. No . . . stout is a good word to describe him. Doug Martin clone. He is every bit the 215 he's listed at. Very thick. Impressive build/musculature for a true freshman. I have no idea if he can play or not, but he at least looks the part.

Makes sense. So, anyone know how he did in practice?

You think they'd add him to the equipment managers list if he wasn't practicing? He was fully dressed, traveling, and had a helmet.

Again, does anyone know how he performed in practice? Obviously, you don't.

My bad. Didn't realize you specifically asking 'how' he did rather than 'if' he did.

:nice:

I’ll go out on a limb and say if he’s healthy and reliable he is the best back we have now and coming in.
He is a physical freak that had a bad injury to his foot. I pray he heals up and stays healthy and were looking at a 3 headed monster next year.
