over the last year or so (during our 15 game win streak) and throughout UGA struggles last year (like losing to GT, whom Richt owned), i've really grown to hate UGA fans

they were so spoiled. They thought they were an elite program and deserved greatness. They were mediocre for decades and then Richt comes along and gives them more success than they know what to do with. He makes them relevant and his major hiccup is an administration that stripped him from his play calling with love for a weird guy named Bobo.

fast forward and one of the winningest coaches in football history in the toughest conference in football is forced out at what would end up being a 10-3 year (with no quarterback)

now two years later miami and that same HC is dominating the football world with a seemingly nobody at QB and their fans are hating every minute of it (bringing me a ton of joy)

While UGA is very good and top 10, that loss to auburn must have them thinking, "here we go again, another 10 win season with one or two blowouts"

this holiday season, i'm thankful for UGA fans for not understanding expectations.

A lot of their fans blamed the administration more than Richt, and rightfully so. Georgia tied Richt's hands, and Miami set him free. Wait until Richt's players are gone.

Not necessarily. A lot of their fans revered Richt, and then there was another group that felt that they would never be BAMA, yes Alabama, with Richt. Delusional. As. ****.

That said, Miami has some BIG games ahead, the ones they felt Richt couldn’t win. Miami’s going to win those games. Then, they’ll hurt. Right now, they’re just wondering...”is that the same guy we let go?”

11-0!

Go Canes!

I think a lot of them are realizing now that Richt wasn't the problem.

Even if we lose one of the next two - it's evident that Richt is going to do special things at Miami.

We aren't really "there yet" in terms of being a national power with playoff depth, etc. But don't tell our kids that. 10-0 fixes a lot of things.

WOW.... DId you guys actually read that. The fans were basically bashing Richt and the adim for not recruiting Cam and Deshaun Watson. The admin had full control over the qb and OCord. wtf... How is Richt the head coach and can't even call his own plays... GTFOH... I'm riding with CMR

Had the same thought today. We played most of the season, well, all season without Walton and Richards healthy. We've relied on true freshmen that normally wouldn't play so much with a fully stacked roster. This is only the beginning. This is, in my opinion, what it would have looked like had we gone 10-0 in 1999. We are a year ahead of schedule.

this^^^^^^^100

One more thing... Not only wait until Richt's players are gone at Georgia, but wait until he has a roster full of them here. Lord have mercy on the rest of college football. Or not.

richt has his faults don't get me wrong, but that program was a shell of what it is now, he was a victim of his own success

better talent, a DC like manny, and an ACC conference could very well get us a national championship

+1 million... ^^

Off the UGA board...

FWIW, this is more likely than we'd like to think. Our Athletic Board is notorious for meddling and there WERE things that happened throughout CMR's time here.

BTW, I did a search on things CMR said about the IPF and I think everybody will find this very interesting: "On Friday afternoon, an aggravated Mark Richt commented: "It's just a royal pain to have to deal with this kind of stuff. It would be nice to have a little indoor facility nearby where you wouldn't have to spend your whole life trying to figure out a new plan. It's very frustrating, it gets very old and I'm about tired of it. Maybe one day we'll get that done." August 24, 2007

Just some food for thought.

I've been living in the Atlanta area for over 25 years, so I can tell you a couple of things about UGA. 1st they weren't mediocre for decades. UGA went through similar struggles like we did after Vince Dooley retired. After 2 bad hires (Goff, Donnan) the hired CMR.
UGA fans started getting restless after Bama & UF were winning NC's while UGA was not. Keep in mind Bama & UF had Saban & Urban.
UGA fans have a history of overestimating the status of their program.
A lot of talk around here the admin at UGA was meddling into the program. Most of the fanbase however was of the mindset that CMR could not win the big one so were putting pressure to have him leave.
When South Carolina started making waves about wanting Kirby Smart, who UGA coveted since he was an alum, donors put pressure to fire RIcht and get Smart, since they thought they would never have another chance at Smart.

With all that said, it seems very clear in the long run, we are going to better off

You would be very surprised the number of UGA fans that and still do think the world of Mark Richt. He got screwed by the incompentnet AD McGoofy, who came from FLa and by a couple of the big liquor barons who he did not cater to, plus Fran Tarkenton who never liked Richt because he was not a Ga man. It is surprising the amount Cane get thT I se. around the Gwinnett, Walton area, do not feel like the lone ember wearing a Cnes hat. So think you are partially correct, but way off on part of comments. Would bet over 50% of Ga fans are pulling for Canes to make playoffs. I know at the bar I watched ND at everyone in there were rooting for Canes.

It was just time for both to move on, regardless of who or what was to blame; the program didn't get to where they wanted it to be.

All I care about is what happens at Miami. And for whatever reason, "Evil Richt" is doing here what they claimed he couldn't do there:

His team is overachieving. Yes, that's right, overachieving. It is starting a QB everyone had written off, lost the one player everyone said it couldn't lose, has its best WR badly hobbled and is basically on probation due to low # of scholarship athletes. He has that team 10-0.

They said he couldn't win big games. He played aggressive against FSU and ripped their still-beating heart out with 6 seconds left. Big game. The back-to-back games against VT and then ND are as big as it gets in CFB outside of a NC game. His team dominated both of them.

Yeah, I am sure part of his early success here is that he got to start over, and in doing so change directions on some thing he was too far along to do at UGA-- like taking over the offense.

The other, bigger part is that he is at Miami now. Miami kids. Miami fans. Miami. And sorry, UGA, I generally like you guys, but you ain't Miami! :neonu:
