Bud mentioned on that show, this is more projection based. I believe the others on that podcast had Beck in their top 10. I know Fornelli has Beck #3 in his.

And Elliot had Beck no lower than 12 on his list.
So not the biggest slight in the world. I’ll take a Top 12 QB this year.

It’s just the annual “hype the UF quarterback” tradition. Mertz was on all these lists last year.

Social media is nothing but rage bait these days, because content creators are saying those are the posts and videos that get the most hits and make them by far the most money.

Mertz at the very least made some kind of sense based on stats from the year before. High completion %, good TD to INT ratio and they expected more comfortability another year in the offense. Lagway put up below average numbers against P4 teams and save for some wow throws, did nothing to warrant being listed as the top returning QB in college next year lol. People see that UF won a few games towards the end of the year and automatically credit him, while discounting the fact that during that little win streak they had, UF's defense was playing out of its mind.

You’re spot on with the last point. Rivalry aside, he has about as much credibility as Genetics.
