Bubba Bolden 2020 Highlight tape. Glad we'll have him back

I have no explanation for the Bubba Bolden rollercoaster. He had that 3 or 4 game stretch where he looked like a sure fire first rounder. He was playing like a heat seeking missile with range and coverage skills. Then, the last 3 or 4 games he almost looked undraftable - taking poor angles, not wrapping up and being a step slow. I don't know if he was saving himself, hurt, or mentally not all in but I'll bet on him being the all american type next year.

Yeah I think his body wore down but also a mental thing. Out of all our defenders, he pretty much had to do the most.

One of the more boom or bust guys I can remember. When it was good it was real good. I’ll bet on the talent figuring it out with him. Seemed like his technique broke down over the year as he hunted highlights.

T Rob will get best out of him.

I fully expect him to take an even bigger leap this year. He finally got a full year under his belt and now T-Rob gets to coach him up. Yes please.

I’ve been very high on Bolden prior to him even being a college athlete, but after he got that recognition, his play dipped. I don’t need the Demolition Man hair dye; go back to what makes u great...a ball hawking S who’s not afraid to tackle or trust ur instincts. Dude has 1-2 round talent, but he needs to be consistent w/ that.

A good Safety should have more PBU's and plays against the pass on his highlight reel.

*A few routine tackles after gains. (he got torched that game, by the way, cause our DC asked him to play off-man coverage on Tutu Atwell all game)
*A sack on a nicely schemed blitz.
*A big hit/FF versus Duke.
*And only ONE play on the football while it's in the air. ONE. (and it's only cause he was playing the goal-line)

Why does a "first round Safety" only have one PBU and a gift interception on his highlight reel?

I'll tell you why. Cause our MF'ing DC likes to play extra soft zone that routinely has his Safeties 39 yards away from the football.

I bet you could make a highlights reel that's even longer full of WR's catching the ball in front of Bolden.

These guys forget what a "First Round" Safety is supposed to look like.

His frame and speed are ideal for fs but he played well blitzing and being up close. When he was the deep safety he took bad angles,rarely made a pbu or interception,took bad angles and missed tackles. He led the team with 16 missed tackles. He can't do that at fs

He was a sure tackler at the beginning of the season though. I’m telling y’all he got his bell rung VS Clemson and hasn’t been the same since. For you to have a nosebleed under your helmet it had to have hit your nose and head and that’s all titanium.. He was scared of contact after that

Yeah he was and he definitely got worse after that game. I wonder if he needs to gain some good weight and strength. Being 200lbs at 6-3 isn't very big. He was still a good tackler when close to the los. But when playing the deep safety he wasn't as good. That's when he missed most of his tackles

we tried to lean on bubba to make every tackle (thanks to trash LB play) like we did with quan a couple years ago, i think that eventually the task was too tall and he folded the last couple games.

I couldnt be more excited to watch Bolden (and Hall's) progression under T-Rob. Its embarrassing watching Hall development here. This was a kid Saban flew to see the first day he legally could. That says something..

Our safety room is now full of freaks. And, on top of that, a coach that demands accountability. Cant wait!
