Mensah has another year of eligibility. Hopefully he does not like the NFL teams he is projected to go to and stays at UM for 2027 and another year with Toney.

Mario strikes me as the kind of coach who would tell a kid to turn pro. Not like maliciously, but I don’t think he’s going to put his needs, Miami winning, over a players long term future.

I'm now starting to get into "Catch-22" territory.

While the coaches like the QBs on the roster, the more of these "close games" that we play where Mensah is the only one who gets PT, the more that we get into a zone where I believe we would consider a Portal QB.

I don't expect Nickel to play at ND.

Therefore, Nickel will likely only play again vs. Duke, VaTech, and/or BC. Unlikely that we blow anyone out in the ACC-CG or the CFP.

So now I'm leaning more towards Mario taking a Portal QB.

We shall see.

Yea you have to pitch to Sears and Wright “don’t worry about who’s throwing you the ball we got our guys three times in the portal we will get another one” that’s the pitch as well as playing time. We are trying to win every year not two to three years down the road, and we not rolling a dice. We are going portal until proven otherwise imo

I want 2001. That happens when you have A LOT of studs come in together. It creates an elite over the top competitive nature and culture in the young men. Get them all in this class. It will be a program changing class.

This class puts us at machine levels especially if you add Matthew Cypher and DJ. All time class on paper. First rounders everywhere

That ended up being a win, but I’m not ashamed to say I’m not uneasy when it looks like a slam dunk. UF just had a 5 star WR commit after a bad loss to USCe so it’s possible even though it would go against ameverything his dad has said about what they are looking for, but you can’t trust that either. Look Mario went 5-7 and we landed 5 stars. Nothing would surprise me.

Next year priorities need to be

1. QB (Invest whatever the cost to get the best on the market)
2. DT. Try to convince Scott to come back. Hes been flashing, but need to upgrade the talent level regardless. Even if Scott comes back id like to swing for the fences for 2. Bring me another Gerald Willis. Make Deuce Geralds say no again.
3. OL. We need to get back to dominating the trenches. Hopefully Samson comes back. Do they feel Cantwell is ready to take over at RT? We need starter quality guard and center.
4. DE. QBs and trenches win championships. Need to convince Lightfoot to come back. Hes been the only game changer at the position. Love the talented freshman, and i feel we may get Jacobs, but we shouldnt rely on true freshman. If a big time player comes on the board, we need to try to land him.
5A. Nickel. May never find another Scott, but we better start looking.
5B. LB. Its been forever since we had a game changer at LB. I like Marcelin and Wiley, and I want them to get there shot. May need some competition.
6. RB. I dont see Pringle coming back. Losing Mark, dont know how Marty is going to recover, we need a stable. Injuries happen, dont want to be thin.

Depends on Fletchers grade. Could be a late round guy. If so curious as to what the money would be NIL vs potential NFL contract.
