Maybe they take a Veteran QB with experience and body of work, and not top of the market like Cam, Beck, or Mensah. Maybe they take a mid level veteran QB with experience who Nickel can compete with, serve as a safety net in case Nickel isnt the one. Fill out the O and D line with the money saved.

Are we sure Mensah leaves? I don’t get it but he’s a fringe first right now which is beyond stupid? He makes good money. If he’s gone ( and I know we think he will be ) and we portal a QB it won’t be for a run of the mill kid.

If we bring in two monsters at the RG and RT position to pair with Cantwell, Congdon, SJ we'll have a serious wall on the o-line for a young QB in Coleman or Abrams to flourish in. We'll probably have the best WR and RB room in the nation that will he them excel

If more than 50 people can see him at a spring game, then he may have more fans. But that's obviously never happening anytime soon. (ie: We've never seen him play!!) I wish he would get some burn to see what we have.

I was actually going to say something similar, but I’ll ask it this way….

For all the dudes on here adamant about getting a portal QB, what have you seen or not seen from Nickel to this point to make you feel so strongly that we need another portal QB?

From what I’ve seen, and admittedly it’s not much, he’s looked good to this point. Good size. Good touch. Decent arm strength. Is it just the “proven” vs “unproven” thing?

There were guys to be had, some teams grabbed 4 guys to build whole new olines.. Kentucky success is based on them building inside out in trenches..

Been waving the Nickel flag for a while now.Can’t keep recruiting these top kids and then go out year after year and get a portal guy.At some point you have to trust your evals on the guys you recruit and let them play.

Kid could be a bust or a Heisman trophy winner but he’s been here for what 3-4 years now? Pretty sure he knows the system and all he’s lacking is game experience so when you get a chance to give it to him ,and we’ve had plenty of chances this year for lots of playing time with all the blowouts you have to do more than let him hand the ball off the other teams feelings be ****.

Personally I think the kid is going to be a stud whether it be here or somewhere else I just hope he gets a legit chance here.
