Bryan Pata case update - retrial moved to September due to misconduct allegations (p.9)

Not to thread jack, but Omar...

So just to clarify, the Dolphins took a top 30 pick for Jaylen Waddle. Interesting. So we DON'T have to stop talking about that one.

I trust THIS Omar more for info, and he's dead...

I'm not a legal expert at all but with how old the case is and no real "smoking gun", I'm not sure if he'll be found guilty.

Personally, I think he did. But "beyond a reasonable doubt"? I'm not sure that threshold can be reached with the evidence and case they have.
Agree. My only knowledge is what's been covered in the podcast, so not much. From what they've included there it sounds like they don't have much to go on and they don't see how they're ever going to have more unless someone just confesses. It feels like they said 'now or never' and likely got the Pata family's blessing in doing so.

Retrial postponed to September.

Edit: Reasons below

- Lead detective is being investigated by Internal Affairs because he used an anonymous IG account to post derogatory statements about Jones and another witness and posts that showed positive bias toward MDSO during February trial
- Issue with jailhouse informant, namely that both sides had agreed to strike him from the list after he said he planned to "tank state's case" last year, but prosecution had him back on list for new trial, and also undetermined whether previous prosecutor struck a deal with him in exchange for his testimony
- Previous prosecutor has since been formally charged by Florida Bar for "undisclosed coordination of cooperating witnesses and failure to disclose cooperation benefit" in another case, and there are allegations that he has done the same in this case
