Mansell isn't saying he is the top contender. They are interviewing at least 4 people that he knows of. Someone posted the following with regard to BMac's connections to UGA:

He has a few connections on our staff too. Kirby was his position coach in 2005, Bobo was the OC when he played and coached in Athens, Hartley was a GA while BMac was on the offensive staff, and Muschamp hired him at South Carolina. Oh and his nephew is our RT. And his dad played at Georgia.


Funny enough, Kirby didn't give him a look in the past.

-As first reported by On3 fully expecting Mike Bobo to join this staff , most likely this week at some point. He will be an off the field offensive analyst after turning down opportunities on the field in the ACC and SEC. I think this is a great move and another very experienced coach in the meeting rooms now. You see this a lot with Nick Saban and CKS, they go after these types, incredible valuable to have extra set of eyes like this in your program. Working daily in a program his son is at, also a huge deal in him choosing Georgia as you could imagine.

Saban doesn’t need trob and Kirby didn’t want bmac.
But Mario with trob and bmac is a huge problem that they don’t want and they’re gonna do everything for that 23 class.
It’s gonna get really really ugly this year considering the ridiculous amount of talent in this class.
It’s recruiting 101 and they’re shook.
Kirby and Saban going after the best recruiters we got.

This^. Not a coincidence it’s killer recruiters who at Miami would prevent them from getting the skill position guys they love from down here

Only reason Kirby is gonna go after someone he already fired is cause he’s shook.
Mario down here with good recruiters is the frontrunners competing against another frontrunner for kids. Unfortunately for them a lot of the kids they want are local and now we’re playing ball. He’s been recruiting at a ridiculous level without bmac.
Now that he’s here with Mario he knows the deal.
