Bronco Mendenhall & UVA

Bronco will be to UVA what Dan Mullen is to Mississippi State. He'll make them respectable and a "tough out" but never elite. They'll be happy at UVA with their 8-9 wins each year. And that's not a knock on them - that's the kind of football program they'd be thrilled to have. But it's not at our level.

i dont think so. Dont think they will recruit at the level to do so.

Va Tech isnt going anywhere..and big 10 schools are starting to sit in VA along with UNC, and Maryland.

He's a solid coach...but you got to have the dogs..and once kiser and blanding those leave what do they have?.
Virginia has a good amount of talent and UVA has been able to keep some of that talent home (a few being five stars). If Mendenhall can recruit similar to London, they will be very tough. Regardless, VT has shown you can be a good team with under the radar kids from the DMV and NC.

Watching USC vs. UCLA; With Corches like those two, it won't be long before Bronco is bringing back this look in Westwood or University Park:

UVA is a great academic school, arguably the best in ACC. A good coach is capable of building a really good program, but recruiting will always be challenged.

VT will be ranked tomorrow, so that's good and a "good" resume win

ND survived, thankfully as they will remain top 10 and that's an "amazing" win

GT really ******** us, they were receiving votes on the poll even with 4 losses so could have finish the season ranked and helped our resume but they got demolished by duke

Toledo winning out including the bowl game would help our season look better in hindsight maybe, who knows

why do yall care about this sh*t. Just win f*cking out.
Saying "win out" is stupid as ****

It's f*cking obvious if we win out we are in so it does not to be stated

So yes it makes perfect sense to talk about scenarios that may help OUR team in case we lose a game to a top 3 opponent in two weeks

There's some **** decent pockets of talent in Virginia. They will always be a well-coached, tough team and very tough when they have a lot of upperclassmen.

There really isn't. There are 2, maybe 3 pockets of talent in VA. The NoVa area, Hampton Roads and to a lesser extent metro Richmond.

NoVa is part of the DMV and Penn State, Ohio State camp out there. Also some of their guys go to Bama recently. Bama has done very well in the DMV.

Hampton Roads is deep. Lot of players there. But VT lives there for recruiting and FSU, Tennessee, UNC also make inroads.

UVAs core market is Metro Richmond. There are no athletes in the Piedmont or Charlottesville. There are some players in Richmond, but it's not deep at all.

Decent coach, no doubt. However, what was seen today is no different than what's been seen before. UVA is a program that exists between shlt and mediocre, which is just enough to flirt with a yearly Fred & ***** Farkle Bowl appearance.

He's good enough to keep them eligible for such things.

2010: L 19-24

2011: L 21-28

2012: L 40-41

2013: W 45-26

2015: W 27-21

2016: W 34-14

Good coaches don't need dogs, and average coaches don't use dogs right

Yes they do.

UVa ain’t ****. Their “most talented team ever” (featuring Al Golden) got handled by a decent Miami squad in 04. At their best they are 8-4 under Mendenhall.

Good coaches do more with less is my point. And bad coaches do the opposite. VA can be competitive w good coaching and 3*s

He's a good coach with a good staff. They'll basically be what BYU was, except in Virginia. It still strikes me as odd as that he decided to leave seeing that he's Mormon and is from Utah and went to a program that's not exactly a powerhouse. Maybe he just wanted a change of scenery.

They'll go to a bowl every season, and every few seasons scratch 8 or 9 wins.

I never understood why he left BYU for UVA. BYU seems like a better job to me.

He had stated around 2011 he would eventually leave BYU for another job. He supposedly turned down UCLA a few years ago.

We have always had problems with UVA. Every team has that one opponent who isn’t at your level but they give you the toughest game.

ACC easily has the strongest coaches of any conference.

Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Babers and Fuente jump to bigger jobs. Even Cutcliffe might be tired of Duke at this point.

Hard to ever see Dabo, Jimbo or Richt leaving

I think that Dabo is the next coach at Alabaga when Satan decides to kick it!

Mendenhall isnt a big time recruiter though. And like u said VA TECH has showed..If a prospect is legit in VA...tech is high on the list...UVA is like 3rd or 4th on that list. He's a good coach, but if they cant get dogs....8 win seasons are their ceiling. BYU and UVA are at the same level football wise...quite frankly byu maybe a better gig
