Bring me Jalen Hurts

Hurts in the SECCG was a different QB, but he also might have just been having one of those nights that he couldn't miss. I've never seen him throw like that before. That said, I think it would be better for the team for them to coach up Williams. Not sure if Perry is ever going to mature enough.

As others have mentioned, the style of the offense matters.

Hurts would absolutely not be a fit in a traditional pro style offense where the QB is tasked with sitting in the pocket and completing throws into tight windows. Hurts would be a fit in a more wide open, spread offense where QB runs are a deliberate part of the scheme.

Applewhite's offense would presumably draw from the Tom Herman and Briles offenses. Both of those offenses make heavy use of running QB's as the way to loosen up defenses and create more open (easier) throwing opportunities, as well as provide an additional running threat thereby opening the run offense.

I think Hurts could be a good fit in what I expect a Major Applewhite offense will look like.

You mean the one he ran at UT and Houston? And the one he will run here? Yes, Hurts would be great and an immediate upgrade to the position.

We ain't getting Hurts. We will get a grad transfer but it won't be him. I bet it is one of those texas guys .

I think you’re grossly overestimating what hurts will do behind this offensive line instead of Bama’s monsters.

I also think Williams possesses the skill set to run an offense better than he can.

The difference is I don’t KNOW like you do. Because you don’t.

I mean Hurts is from the Houston area and Houston wanted him badly when Applewhite was there. Of course, Applewhite wanted Jarren pretty badly, too.

I think Jalen, as I did with the kid from Buffalo, is the perfect one year rental.

Hurts said He stayed at Alabama for the coaching, so obviously the kid likes quality coaching...and alluding to what another poster said about Him enrolling in the Masters Program at Alabama, so obviously the kid's a high academic achiever...given all that, I can see Him transferring to a school like Duke.

There are a dozen transfer QBs I would prefer. When considering QBs I look at several characteristics. The first is an ability to throw a football in the forward direction. This is a challenge for Jalen.
Dude won a championship with a defense worse than ours and an OC of same caliber

We would take him in a heartbeat

He enrolled in that master's program, he's not leaving Bama. I could see him graduating and trying to get a GA spot on the staff

Could be something if we really are getting Applewhite . Article said he was the first to offer Hurts a scholarship when he was OC at Houston . So we Atleast know Applewhite thinks his skillset fits his offense .

Need more than 3 scholarship QBs. A Grad Transfer QB is what we need to bridge the gap.

Yeah and I bet you lose the entire room to transfers...

Jarren wont be able to fight off his dad if he doesnt start again..

Perry will say F this I'll just transfer elsewhere

Cade will probably say F this and just transfer to ASU or Arizona to party harder

That's silly. We could be looking at 1-2 scholarship QB's if Perry and Weldon flake again this summer. We most definitely need a grad transfer and I would say a freshman in this class. If someone leaves because they don't want to compete for the job so be it.

Dont disagree but if Hurts comes for 1 year and Jarren transfers out, not sure that's a great trade. Say what you want about Jarren if he doesnt wanna compete, wait his time, blah blah but losing him would suck imo

Since when are enrollments into Masters programmes ironclad agreements?

He's just protecting his back. He'll bounce if someone offers him the starting job elsewhere as a grad transfer.

Jarren talking about transferring got a lot of y'all shook up. If he's that fragile let him go simple as that.

Well seeing as no d1 school would offer the starting position I would say I'm probably right
