Bring Mario home

A good coach goes undefeated with that cupcake schedule and with a 1st rd draft pick qb.
Pac 10? Another joke conference. Did you see the losses? Terrible losses.
if you know any football u know Oregon gets blown out vs the final 4 teams. Don’t be a homer.
Finally explain to me those awful offensive numbers in this game with an nfl qb.

Bro we lost to la tech and FIU we cant talk abt any joke conferences

they weren't hapless but he did well this year. he'd be a huge upgrade over manny and the best we could likely attract to come here. the elite guys aren't coming to miami. mario is good and thats better than what we've had in a long time
Agreed. He wouldn’t probably have us in the CFP annually but might be there every few years or so. I think he’s learning more and more on the job, as a good HC should do. It’s a reason why Diaz should’ve gone to Temple and learned on the job. Not Miami. Not when he single handily caused the worst football season in 3+ decades

well a competent program would've told diaz good luck in philly come back in a few years depending on results

who can we do better with? I’ll hang up and listen. Thanks

There are no slam dunk hires, but I would be looking for guys who have proven they can build a program.

Try to identify the next Matt Rhule, PJ Fleck, or Matt Campbell before they blow up, similar to what LSU did with Joe Brady as PGC.

I'd be open to outside-the-box picks.

Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson weren't obvious picks.

Wario doesn't impress me at all. We know he can recruit with Bama and Nike behind him.

Are we naive enough to think he would "clean up" in South Florida with all the divas and bagmen? Are 5-star kids really gonna be turning down "inducements" at Bama and Clemson because bro Cristobal can recruit bro?

I'm not convinced.

Besides, the assistant coaches and support staff do the bulk of the recruiting throughout the season.

Bama and Clemson have an army of support staff. I bet Oregon does, too.

Wario has also bungled too many games. The Stanford game last year and Auburn this year were total embarrassments.

On the positive side, I think he's probably a good closer as a recruiter, so we would likely see an uptick, but not some quantum leap to top 3 classes.

And he's hired some pretty decent assistants in his past, so maybe he's working with something.

But color me unimpressed with his body of work so far.

All that said, he's an upgrade over Manny on experience alone.

hey guy. @dsddcane can probably confirm. Golden was getting him a paycheck. coley started under mario. Golden was fine with him leaving. you guys just want to pick fights over nothing.
No fight, just doesn't make any sense to think Mario didn't know anything about al when he took the job. People want the story to be that he bailed because al sucked, when he really bailed for a better opportunity. Had bama not come knocking he'd have stayed.

Bottom line, Mario has some positives but seeing into the future and knowing al would fail isn't one of them.

OU getting blown out is not going to help the Big 12, the PAC 12 or ACC. You have ESPiN with their $EC bias and the talking heads like Herby being Big 10 guys you can see where the favoritism will go. In reality though, the top three were far and away better that any other team.
LSU, Clemson, and Ohio State are without a doubt the Top 3, and LSU #1. I think Bama with a healthy Tua is right there too, but he wasn’t healthy and that’s life. I think the PAC12 has only a few good coaches, and no elite ones. Meyer to USC would have been interesting.

Manny sucks.

So does Mario.

Two things can be true at once.

We can do better. We won't, but we can.
This. If Mario wasn’t an alumni no one would be clamoring for him to be our next coach. His team just put up 204 yards of offense in a bowl game with a projected 1st round QB and very solid OL. He is not the answer.

Wario bailing on Golden is one of his better qualities as a candidate.

Agreed, Oregon was not hapless when Mario took over. Willie F'ing T had them trending north.

Disagree that you like others seem to think we need an elite coach and since we cannot get Saban, Urban or Dabo we need to settle on Mario. Was Howard or JJ elite when they took over the program? They won championships here and there are coaches out there that can rebuild us to that level again.

Wisky gave it away or Oregon took the game? They forced the 3 TO’s and capitalized on all three of them. Get out of here with the Wisky handed them the ball game. Did you even watch the game without sucking off stats?

MARIO is an offensive coach. How did the offense do with an nfl qb? Are u special?

i dont think well ever win a title with mario but well be a **** of a lot closer with him and may make a playoff run every few years if everything breaks right. id def take mario over manny and it isnt even close. the 80s are gone. the landscape has absolutely changed

thanks for responding.

I disagree on the resume but we don’t have to agree. Winning a power 5 conference and a NY6 bowl is hard to do. He recruits well but more so his team is physical and tough.

not sold on the idea of an up and comer. We tried that before. Miami is different and the kids here are different. We need someone that has experience winning at a power 5 school and knows how to manage egos of high level recruits. He learned that at Bama and he is doing it now at Oregon. Added bonus is that he specializes in offensive line play, our biggest weakness in 15 years.

We’re not talking about us. We’re talking about an Oregon team with an nfl qb and several nfl players on that team. If Mario’s is the answer He goes undefeated in the regular season. Why can’t people see this?

The only thing that would sway me on Wario is if he learned the dark arts from Saban, and set up an intricate bag network.

With all the dirty money flowing through Miami, we could be cookin' if we had somebody smart/shady enough to set it up.

Is Wario that guy?

Nick Saban had the #1 class every year for like 5 out of the last 6. He just lost 2 games, it's extremely difficult to go undefeated. Mario would be by far the best we've had since Butch
