Bring him (Mark Stoops) to me!

All coaches who lose and get fired display lots of ineptitude. That's why they lose.

Question is are you ready to say that Manny's career is toast right now after his first 3 years ever as a head coach.
I’m of the opinion that Manny is probably in over his head at Miami and should be relieved but I don’t think his coaching career will be over. He’s proven to be capable of adapting and changing and learning from failure in the past. He’ll likely land a DC position somewhere and probably parlay that into another head coaching gig somewhere down the line. Miami is just not the place for first time coaches to be cutting their teeth. There’s a lot of trial and error involved with first time guys and when you’re in a place that demands a lot, you don’t have the time to spend “figuring things out”.

Hmmmm Louisville almost did it.

They ( UL) even recruit very well here. With some efforts so can UK

ALSO do you really think that after only winning the Coastal 1 or 2 years after being in the ACC for decades......that Miami is the place to come to IF you want to win championships??

I WISH....but that clearly has NOT been the case for decades. Just saying..that's ancient history now.
l-ville was a flash in pan. strong cleared up in so fla the year Shannon got fired.

To me you can only play the “we have less talent than most of the teams in our conference” card for so long. Part of your job as a head coach is to recruit the best players possible. If you’re at a program for 8 years and you’re still behind everyone else in talent, you’ve failed at the biggest part of your job, recruiting. Maybe Kentucky can’t compete with Georgia and Alabama for recruits but there’s no reason they can’t compete with every team in the middle tier of that conference. They get that same SEC TV contract money. They get a huge payout in bowl money that gets split between all the conference members. They have no Vanderbilt style academic requirements. Maybe Urban Meyer or Nick Saban wouldn’t win national championships at UK but they **** well wouldn’t be using the “everyone has more talent than us” excuse 8 years in.

There’s so many excuses being made for this guy I had to double check to be sure this wasn’t another Mario thread.

I don't understand why we're crowning this guy. He's 54-50 for his career. Has only surpassed 8 wins once in his career. And sure he beat UF, but his QB only threw for 87 yards in that game.

How is this coach going to take us out of mediocrity when he has lived in mediocrity his entire career? If he was as good as people are touting him to be, he would've been poached by another SEC school already.

Let me ask you something. What do you think of a HC with this record? Would you consider him?

Year 1: 7-4
Year 2: 3-7-1
Year 3: 4-5-2
Year 4: 8-4

That was JJ at OK State. Stoops has made miracles at KU. He’s not Golden or Shannon or Diaz or Coker. He is a proven HC with a stellar defense and great intensity.

Now, Do I think that he’s the only ideal fit for us? Absolutely not. But what I am saying here is that he’s a pretty solid head coach.

Kill to have this guy as our coach, easily be our best coach since Butch. I agree that I don't think he would leave UK for a job here, unless we gave him a significant raise.

You make him sound like Al Golden .

Anyhow I'll wait to see how he does the rest of this season. If he can get to 10 wins again I'll be impressed.
Al was doing less with more at Temple , he had better players than the entire conference yet never won jack. That being said Stoops isn’t high on my list , we could do worse though.

87 yards passing against Florida... 100 yards passing against South Carolina.

Yeah I can see you guys welcoming Stoops here for a long time.
Most here have mentioned that Stoops would need to change his offensive philosophy if he were to become head coach here

If he ever had a successful offense I'd be all for it. That's what holds me back from saying Stoops can be the guy. They have never had a decent QB under Stoops.

He's cycled through some OCs and it just seems like a lack of commitment to wanting to be a good offense at this point. 2021 is the best season he's ever had on offense if they stay on this pace. The average since he's been there is 24.2 PPG and an average ranking of 89th in scoring offense. 2021 they are 55th and averaging 29 a game. Next best season he's ever had was ranking 60th at 28.4 PPG in 2016 (skewed by scoring 62 against New Mexico State and 49 against Austin Peay) and that team had Bennie Snell and Boom Williams in the backfield.

The answer is a resounding **** no those guys would not make Kentucky a super power if they didn’t already have championship pedigree. It’s like when Phil Jackson was winning championships he had the best players in the game. When he didn’t he didn’t win it’s that simple. You need a good coach and amazing talent anything less doesn’t get you there.
Coastal Carolina is in the top 25. So is Wake forest. A while back Boise st was a frequent visitor to the top 10. Saban could rehab Kentucky. May not make them champions but he'd have them competing at a very high level. None have pedigrees or killed it in recruiting.

I agree. But this is where Zo can take the lead.

What in the world does Alonzo bring to the offense? He hasn't been an offensive coordinator and is a dinosaur. If he has to snooze Stoops into changing his offense, it would never work. Coaches don't roll like that, they have to see that change is needed, want it, and accept it.

It's funny when people say Miami is different because the expectations are different and Stoops wouldn't meet that expectation. What are the expectations at Miami exactly? On CIS, it's NC's, but for the BOT/AD it's clearly not.

So to try and hold Stoops to some standard that only exists in the minds of dudes on a message board is not reality.

Think about this, if Stoops was the coach this year, we would win the ACC, we would be in the playoffs and depending on the match up, possibly playing in the NC game. Dude is more than capable of winning at Miami.

The first few years are always the worst. I'm not against replacing Manny, but only with a proven winner. Another up and comer or a good veteran (Mark Richt) is a waste of more time to me.

So hire a guy on the premise that you want him to change who he is when he gets here...

Yeah let me make a phone call and get you guys in charge of the next hire.
Not change who you are but update the offensive philosophy. Don't understand why that is so far fetched to inquire about while meeting with a coach? Especially if you feel it would benefit your current roster and entice more offensive recruits. Also, Stoops may not be married to the scheme just runs its because it fits the players he's been able to get there?

We need a proven winner. No more experiments. I like Stoops, but he's done nothing in his career to show he's able to revitalize Miami.
