Bring back the chain....

Why don't we just go back to the days when players got stickers of some sort on their helmets post game. Studs end up with a helmet full of them, but not the duds. 😉

Manny ruined the chain by redoing it every year and not figuring out how to use the prop as a timely reward. One there was a fourth-incarnation of the thing and guys are clowning around wearing it on the sideline down double digits to Alabama, it jumped the shark.... and those stupid rings were an embarrassment from day one. Seeing Mallory slapping them on after a late score to North Carolina in 2019, moments before the defense gave up 4th-and-17... or Restrepo rocking them when the Canes were down 44-10 in the fourth quarter to the Crimson Tide; UM was a laughingstock. (Same game the turnover was overturned and our guys are sitting on the sidelines celebrating.)

Nothing was worse than the South Beach sideline photoshoot a few weeks later at 1-2, after losing to Alabama and Michigan State and eking out a win over Appalachian State.... our guys posing like buffoons in that jewelry while smacking around a glorified high school from Connecticut in from of a stadium at 20% capacity—the same day Herbstreit took UM's top brass to task for not caring about the football program.

Good riddance to the chain until Miami wins an ACC title and gets back to double-digit win seasons. Anything outside of that is an embarrassment.

It doesn't make anyone better or worse but as fans it's something to argue or obsess over that's almost completely irrelevant to wins and losses. One of this board's favorite pastimes. Like uniforms or cleat colors.

This fanbase worries about some of the dumbest crap imaginable. If Mario wants to build without a chain, then so be it. The Turnover Chain never won a game. EVER. He's trying to build a program, and honestly, when you look like crap effort wise, you shouldn't be worrying about jewelry.

I said, "with better ideas of when to use it, it only seemed stupid when we were getting crushed". We never should've brought it out when we were losing badly and the TD rings were dumb from the get go...never liked them. Also seeing how other teams are reacting to their versions makes me think these young men enjoy the celebration aspect. The HC should decide when to use it.

I like it because it is very much MIAMI in your face! But, I would use it only in designated games and only when we are not getting whopped.
 
Chain is a gimmick but I don’t mind it. Mario will never do something like the turnover chain imo

Georgias shoulder pads from mad max are as bad as the fsu backpack

You know what’s fun? Playing meaningful games in a packed hard rock stadium. No need for chains or rings, win games, fans will come back, the stadium will be pandemonium.

I would love to see the chain back, but the original only and we should not have any other gimmicks. The chain was awesome at the time, but it got taken too far.
 
I’m all for bringing back the U chain. Think it’s great. People making fun of it are message board trolls. Maybe OSU should take their tacky “prop" stickers off their helmets too. LOL. Take a poll of season ticket holders and see the response. Having said that, drill sargeant Mario probably won’t be doing it anytime soon.
