Sigh.

Doesn't mean he still can't listen to other offers. This just increases his buyout, provided he got a big time offer and wanted to leave.

But it was just reported he has agreed to an extension, which surely came with a raise. As it stood prior to today, he was only signed through the 2019 season at $400k.

I'm sure they doubled that and extended a few years. Makes it tougher to pry him out of there now, but not impossible.

But my #Kendal2Kendall dream is on life support now.

Money talks, if we are indeed willing to spend 1m a year for an oc, he undoubtedly would come here imo. Might not even have to spend that much for him. 725-750k a year may get the job done

Well he obviously doesn't want to move on or Texas State went in another direction and he doesn't have other offers. Otherwise, why would he sign an extension, making it harder to leave. Regardless pertaining to Miami, they can pay him more; not that I think they are smart/ballsy enough to

Gonna have to buy him out now. Prior to this morning, his buyout was 400K. That just went way up.

He signed an extension because someone walked up to him with a piece of paper and said "If you sign this, we'll double your salary", and then his agent whispered in his ear "And you can still leave if someone wants to give you even more money".

Pretty easy decision.

I guess I see that with only Texas State rumored to be willing to make a move. Same thing they did with Herman and Texas still snatched him up

Yep. And Texas State's HC made 650K last year. I'll bet Briles just re-upped with UH for more than that. It's smart business for him.

Option 1: Stay at UH with a salary that was probably close to doubled from this year

Option 2: Have someone with a lot of money pay to buy me out and then give me even more money per year than UH did.

No-brainer.

What gave you the idea that Kendal would go to Miami?

Good move by Houston honestly. Guys an up and comer. Need to keep those people around

That team, with a real DC, will make some noise. Between Houston and UCF, AAC may now be a better conference than ACC. Not saying it is, just saying there's not a whole lot of difference between the two right now after Clem$on.

Give him $800k/year until his buyout is paid off, then increase him to $1M.

Doesn't matter if his buyout is $1M. Worth every penny. We'd get it back tenfold. Continuing the way we are would be the most expensive path of all.

Agree 100%. He was/is #1 choice and has been for a year, and #2 is miles behind.

I’m just saying if Miami really wanted him (they don’t), they’ve dragged their feet and now it will cost more than it did up until this morning.

I can't believe any of you are actually monitoring him as a candidate for an OC vacancy at UM that doesn't exist.

Was never going to happen. First, we have a bowl game to play in, so no way the boat was going to be rocked b4 then. Second, no way Richt is changing anything. I don’t think ppl realize, we begged him to come here. He made his terms & conditions etched in stone. Lil Jon will remain QB coach. He will remain OC. My only fear right now is Manny leaving, tbh.
