Brian Hightower in the portal

the kid went toe to toe with a nfl corner his first college game, i get he had injuries but when he got healthy, he had to sit behind wiggins whos dropping every pass thrown and cager who was playing bad. This year, hes getting little opporunities, he didnt make the most of them but when you see a kid like wiggins playing as much as he is when he doesnt get the job done, it has to be disheartening. by all accounts, he practiced very well.

Won't be missed, never showed enough to warrant any tears for leaving.

Once again we will be very young next year at another position. JT4 gone, KJ gone, Pope and Wiggins the only juniors or older and neither has impressed until now, whatever. That #8 2018 class is looking suspect as fvck. Obviously coaching matters A LOT, but some of these guys can't do basic stuff.

All this hand-wringing for him is weird af, another CIS AA that didn't amount to anything here. Hightower has as many drops as catches this year, just because he flashed vs LSU y'all think he has some greatness in him that the staff is squandering.

this. At best, his draft stock would Be the same compared to if he would have stayed at Miami. I like the kid but there’s a reason transfers rarely pan out. Most of the time, it hurts stock
This is certainly an interesting train of thought. I believe that used to be thought, but I’m not sure how it’s viewed today. Maybe the percentages are much lower for non-QB’s?? the last 2 Heisman winners, and the 2 leaders for it this year were/are transfers, granted they are all QB’s.

With that said, since we were the kings of the portal last year...does that not bode well for us??

Just another mid-season quitter like most UM fans. He couldn't shake the injury bug and break into the lineup. Hands were suspect too. Goode lawke.

Smart move to go to ASU. That staff has a lot of former NFL guys and set up in the same mold as an NFL organization. Herm is still respected in the NFL. If he performs half way decent Herm will vouch for him.

Yea, I noticed this as well. I was curious as to ASU when this thread popped up and looked at the coaching staff. I’m sure this is a very calculated move to enhance his future prospects. Whether or not it pans out...who knows.

Yeah, good point but your sample set is extremely narrow (one school/one position, which happens to be a position that has a great system around it). I'd venture to say those are the exceptions rather than the norm. Look at the amount of portal transfers - the %s are not in Brian's favor. And yeah, it doesn't bode super well for us either to depend on portal guys. There will be exceptions (I believe Bolden is one) but we'll see.

I tend to agree and that’s why I put that in my original response...I think for QB’s it’s an entirely different situation/scenario. You just need to PT if you’re a QB, just look at Burroughs with LSU, Kyle Allen who transferred from A&M to get snaps, Buechele who left Texas.

But a good list of non-QB transfers is harder to come by.

yeah and ironically, the one that will/has not panned out happens to be with us (Tate). go figure.

Not saying you are but I'm sure next year the slogan will be, "we are young on offense." Again.

I said it the other day... a loss to Butch and FIU should do it - in a sane world - but sadly I don’t think that’ll be enough. I don’t know how these guys could logically continue if Butch and FIU win. That should be the ultimate icing on the cake on many levels.

Lose to Butch and we will see hara kiri at next board meeting, starting with Strawberry and Bass...
