I am not going to judge him off the AH kids from this class. WAY too late in the game. Buddy was hired as our DB coach a week ago and yall think he can sway kids who had absolutely ZERO interest in us to all of a sudden come? Wishful thinking.

Now I WILL judge him off the two DB prospects that will be coming out of AH soon...Tyson Campbell and Surtain Jr...if we are not in the game with those two then something is up. DBs at the position you are coaching should be open and shut.. Campbell is a stud. But I heard LSU is his leader right now..

I will also judge him off Slaton. The big time OL. We have to keep him home.

Perhaps not total judgment, but this is strike 1 if he blanks on recruits from AH that we are interested in this year.

Maybe he was trashing more than just the previous corching staff and can't walk it back for this year's recruits? If he and it's a big if cause we have no idea, but if he was trashing the facilities, the game day atmosphere, etc, then how do you turn around and tell that kid all that doesn't matter any more cause I work there now.

Of course we could be over thinking it and the kid just doesn't want to come here. Who knows
 
Lol at people saying Rumph isn't a good position coach and a bad hire because one kid who hasn't been interested in forever, may not come here. He's been on the job less than a month. Let the man work.
 
Why do people assume Rumph was trashing um? Because his players made smart educated decisions to go to a better program?.

Some don't seem to understand recruiting. Players have say where they go to college, contrary to popular belief. it's not just wherever their coach tells them. Just because Mckenzie and Michel went to play for Georgia doesn't mean Rumph talked negatively about Miami to recruits

Yes it's known he wasn't a huge fan of golden but we're not talking about middle school here its hard for me to imagine a kid really wanting to go to Miami and Rumph telling him not to because it sucks, etc.

If Shaq's coach would have gotten a job at UF he would have still come to UM...can't hold the coach responsible for a kid's choice...

I get what you're saying but at the same time a local kid that has a relationship with their HC would at least give the school a chance. Sounds like Burns said nah, I'm not even visiting.

And what you did here, was describe exactly why rump was a bad hire. Richt stared an important decision in the face: He brought in a DC that runs a scheme that requires exceptional DB play to limit getting beat deep because he has a high risk high reward style. And rather than lock down someone with a great track record of developing talent on this level without premium recruits like coach kool, or someone with a track record of bringing in top tier studs and popping out 1st rounders like Raymond, he went after a coach to pull the local pipeline back into the fold because of a personal connection. It was a self defeating decision if it doesn't net immediate recruiting results.

This is my one and only beef with Richt so far. Too many inexperienced position coaches. Giving your son an asst coach spot is fine...esp since Richt will be the one calling plays and working with QBs. But then using up 3 additional position coaching spots with Hartley, Banda, and Rumph...who have about a combined 2.3 years of collegiate coaching experience at their respective positions...just asking for trouble. If Rumph cant bring in a kid who he's known for what, 4 years?, what dafug is he good for?

There's a big difference between talking **** about OUR PROGRAM & having pride in our program but having enough football logic to know when a staff is destroying what has been built. He never once talked **** about the program so stick to facts. He has pride in this u & same as all of us he wasn't happy about what al golden & no d were doing to us. At the same point he also was protecting his kids by helping them see a bad situation when it was in front of them. The fact that he has a more public forum where more people pay attention and pick apart his words is no one's fault but theirs.

Nope, they would call him a diva, demand we drop him, etc. That's just what some people do.

A week is a short amount of time to make up years of recruiting connections this young man has made elsewhere. I'd even say he knows exactly where he's going since he doesn't plan on coming by the school anytime soon. There's also the possibility that the two of them never really got along.

As for what some are basically calling cheap hires with regards to some of the coaches, perhaps concessions were made. Here's your budget, divide it up however you like. That or perhaps the hires pay dividends down the road as this year was basically full on scramble mode. So many possibilities and so few answers.
