Are you serious. Arkansas has major alumni/boosters. Do you know if he turned Ark into a threat he would be in the Show. Jim Johnson and Jerry Jones
Yeah, I'm serious. Arkansas is a bottom dweller in the SEC West, the toughest division in P5 football; nobody is turning that program around anytime soon. I lived in Little Rock for 5 years, I know a thing or two about whoo-pig.

Wisky is a perennial contender in the B1G, he could have kept them in the 8-10 win range for the next 15-20 years and made a **** ton more money over the long term and won a lot more games than he'd ever win in Fayetteville.

Every school has major boosters, how much has having Jerry Jones as an alumnus helped Arkansas win over the past 20 years? They had a brief run under Houston Nutt when they had Matt Jones, Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis, still couldn't win the SEC. Patrino got them 11 wins in 2011 and they still finished 3rd in the West. They've been trash otherwise.

So yeah, he made a mistake leaving Wisky for Arkansas, particularly seeing as how he didn’t turn Arkansas around and was fired after 5 years.

Bielema was named HC in waiting as DC before Barry Alvarez retired and moved to the AD role.

He was a good coach but never fully fit in. By the time he left there were multiple issues floating around. He got popped parting with co-eds but the bigger issues were between him and Alvarez.

Barry was still around the program constantly. It was his baby and I think most coaches would have had issues with how he loomed over everything at the time. Brett wanted changes to high academic requirements, more money for assistant coaches, more modern offense... Barry basically told him I did it this way, so will you.

Even his success as a coach was generally framed as Barry picking the right guy... I understood why he moved on, just not to Arkansas.
