Bret Bielema

I think that’s a **** of a hire for Illinois. He was really good at Wisky before he ruined his life at Arkansas
Yea hes more of a Big 10 coach. His style matches up well against teams like Wisky, NW, Iowa, etc. The only team consistently having athletes all over the place in the Big 10 is OSU. Everyone else you can grindout wins against.

Seems like a very good fit to me.

Even in his failures at Arkansas, he was still 29-34. I’m thinking he can get Illinois to a consistent 7ish win team with the occasional 9-10 win season which is a big improvement for them.

He may not be a elite coach but I do not call being a multi millionaire a failure
**** does his money have to do with him being a failure as a coach. He had an easy gig a Wisconsin. Finish behind OSU regularly and just enjoy the road. He tried to take on a harder challenge and failed at Arkansas.-

Winning the Big10 3x in a row = finish behind OSU regularly

Granted OSU had some NCAA issues at that time.

I think it's good hire by Illinois.

He's a coach with name recognition. He did well at Wisconsin. Yes he failed at Arkansas but that is a HARD job in a tough SEC division.

Illinois needs a coach who can offset the talent gap by slowing down the game and bringing tough defense.....both of which works well in late season cold weather games in the Big10. That's Bielema. For his sake, I hope Bielema has gone on a diet since the last time we saw him. That guy was on the verge of some serious health concerns.

He’s 1 and 5 vs OSU and one of those loses was 6-7 OSU team.

One of the years you mentioned. OSU and Penn State wasn’t eligible for the Big Ten Championship other he wouldn’t have been there.

Good Luck to him at Illinois
