The rehab angle is 100% just to clean his name up a little. Anyone who’s actually addicted to something to the point where they actually want to go to rehab wouldn’t be pushing for eligibility in the upcoming season. Imagine if this was any other type of addiction how ridiculous it would look. Your quarterback is hooked on heroin but wants to get sober and has entered a rehab program. All while trying to stay eligible to play college football in a couple of months. It doesn’t work that way.

I feel like nobody's really talked about what this means for the CFB playoff. There are only so many teams that were going to be capable of taking one of those 12 spots. Texas Tech not being one of them is kind of a big deal.
