Brenden Sorsby- The Gambling Addiction

I’m with @TemplarCane on this one.

The libertarian streak in me says people should have the right to lose their money in any manner they see fit; drugs, gambling, prostitution, etc…
And for a long time I owned stock in gambling companies because well, they win a lot more than they lose. But the reality is that gambling is a source of addiction just like drugs, alcohol, eating, shopping, anything which hits the receptors in our brain which results in the release of dopamine.

So it is particularly cringy when espn openly discusses gambling lines because of who pays their bills with little to no regard for the people who have this addiction. And maybe it isn’t their job or anyone’s responsibility to care. But young people are even more at risk to addiction and this young man needs real help. Which I am contrasting with the “you just got caught doing something so now you need to go to rehab” help like Tiger Woods. Too often this version of rehab is just to check a box and go right back to making money for yourself or whomever is making money off of you.

But your post is a good one, and it does bring up the possibility based on what we now know about him now. Based on his gambling history, people are always going to have questions about plays like this, and they’re definitely legitimate questions.

Everyone can judge for themselves based on the screenshots and the video. Cincinnati receiver is circled in yellow in the first picture, Nebraska is in the white jerseys.

He’s done if it’s proven he’s bet on his team whether or not he played in those games.

Stick to soccer bro, they’re completely different plays.

The Nebraska DB was in Sorsby’s field of view, right behind the intended receiver, whereas the DB that intercepted the Beck pass came from at least 10 to 15 yards off to the side,

Beck got greedy, locked in on the receiver, and saw the one DB covering him who he had beat.

He didn’t see the other DB who was a good 15 yards away and closing, coming across. That’s obvious to anyone that knows a little bit about football.

That’s not too excuse Beck, but they’re different football plays and comparable in terms of what the quarterback was seeing on the field.

Yep. This is the new opioid crisis. We’ll see if anything happens since all sports are in bed with these gambling companies.

80% of games would barely have anyone watching if you took away the gambling element.

Maybe. The guy was betting $0.50 on balls and strikes. What'd he bet on Indiana to win? $5? This isn't exactly match fixing. He's not working with any bookmakers? He's not impacting the outcome of the games? The feds aren't involved? Meh.
 
There should be an investigation into whether Indiana’s staff knew about the bets.
If they did, shouldn’t they be sanctioned?
