Brenden Sorsby- The Gambling Addiction

So how does this address the gambling addiction he self-professed? And while it seems like they've set a wild precedent for college sports (imagine the mayhem of players betting on games and teams trying to police this too), how will the NFL interpret this when Sorsby enters the draft?

This is now the trial on the merits in the lower court case, date scheduled conveniently 2 weeks after CFB championship, meaning his injunction is season long.

Appeal has not happened yet so no timeline there. Also no real trial for appeals, you get briefs, maybe an oral argument limited to like 20 mins each side, then you just wait for a ruling. Could take weeks or months.

It doesn't and it won't. People really need to understand, the world is entirely corrupt. To the core. EVERYTHING is about money. Every single thing. He's playing this year because Texas Tech has a ****ton of it. If he was playing at Sam Houston State, he'd be back page news and an example made out of. He'd never play a down.

Also, the NFL, how good is he? If he's really good, aka an NFL QB, aka someone who can make a franchise a lot of money, literally NO ONE cares about this "addiction". If he stinks, then he won't get a shot.

Corruption, power, and money. Nothing else matters. He was always gonna play this year because there's too much money involved for him not to.

The ONLY thing that *might* happen is the backlash gets too loud for Tech and they just say ***** it, get him outta here. But that's highly unlikely. Again, too much money.

So? What are the grounds?

Remember, it was SORSBY who sued the NCAA. The parties would be completely different here.

And it could easily be removed to federal court, as I do not believe the LLC that holds the CFP is a resident of Texas.

If he plays this year and Tech wins the Big 12, and the CFP keeps them out despite it being explicitly laid out that all P4 conference champs get an autobid, you’re telling me you don’t think there will be a lawsuit?

I’m not a lawyer, I’m just an accountant so I’m not going to pretend to be able to go back and forth on what the legal arguments would be. But I don’t see a world where that doesn’t wind up in a lawsuit.
 
the only way he doesn't play is because of the societal pressure will be too much that texas tech will have to rule him ineligible. all signs indicate they probably dont give AF

the trial date being 2 weeks after the season and the judge being retired is awfully convenient
 
I don’t know if this would be considered poetic justice or simply karma. I’m not calling or hoping for him to get hurt, but watch him get hurt in Fall camp or his first game after the suspension. The football gods can take care of Texas Tech this season and do what this judge refused to do.

And TRO aren’t settlement negotiations. One side or the other wins. This whole thing is a farce and the judge should be embarrassed because the ruling is definitely an embarrassment to the legal community.

Well technically I think Sorsbys side literally argued for a 2 game suspension. So judge ruled he won and granted that 2 game suspension. I think that’s why it went that way at least… who knows

When did it say all P4 champs get an auto bid? Because Duke won the ACC and didn’t get in. Or did they change that rule and I missed it. I apologize if they did I didn’t know

p4 champs do not get an auto bid. the highest rated champs get in. duke was left out bc they were unranked.

in this instance, TTU can be unranked and never get in.
