BREAKING: Florida House has passed bill allowing college athletes to earn $ from name, image & likeness beginning July 2021.

Another popularity contest for politicians. Please keep the government out of college athletics...worst mistake ever. They ***** up everything they touch.

The XFL should really look into being a bridge from HS to the NFL where players get paid legally. I know it will be rough at first but that will be a solution that is the most transparent.

Depends...if you're entering your true Jr. season, and are a surefire 1st Rd. pick, do you wanna risk serious injury playing in the XFL?...might as well take the Nick Bosa route.

But I can see a player who had a troubled college career like Tyreek Hill taking that chance.

If Miami plays the game right this can put us back on top.. Boosters with large businesses can tell top recruits they will hire them for their likeness.. Now those 5 stars can get 6 figures playing in paradise

This has to help us with our brand and being in a big city, right?

No, it does not. Our brand is not what it once was. Our merch sales have been down since the switch to Adidas (which I said would happen).

All this does is open up another slimy revenue stream for street agents, and schools w/ bigger revenue streams to pitch themselves. We only prosper from this once we win, and become the face of at least the ACC Coastal. Once we become the anti darlings of the NCAA again, then it’ll be much easier. Big city don’t mean chit, especially when your city is playing rival schools on your flag ship station.

There are hardly any Dolphins players that you see in advertisements/endorsements around Miami and those guys are much more marketable. In college towns football/basketball is king and many are already paying players under the table and now they have a legal avenue to do so
Can the kids sell their autographs? Right there is an easy way to bag up.

Yes they should be able to, and I think that’ll be the majority of what ends up happening for players, which is still great. Just very few guys are going to be seeing big bucks

Yeah but that’s where the bag networks will thrive. They’ll purchase an autograph session and pay the kids and give the autographs away to charity or wherever.

is it that the dolphins players aren't getting it because they suck! You telling me when the dolphins were winning they weren't able to get good advertisement/endorsement deals? I get it that those SEC fans will forever be something different. However, if we start to win like we should kids should be able to get bigger global deals being in Miami than some **** hole like Alabama or Clemson.

We say every rule helps us then we find out it doesn't. Miami is an overrated sports market. Most of the fans are fair weather and they dnt support the programs like small towns college towns do.

People forget these college towns depend on these programs as they have no pro teams. Their fans and booster will spend whatever it takes to keep things going. I bet there are hundreds of "companies" waiting to throw money at these kids at a place like Alabama so they gain a reputation of being a school that maximizes players earning. When your a good UM player your treated as a good college athlete but when your at Alabama your treated like a god.

key words: WHEN WE WIN. Something we haven't done in a while. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia fans will shower their players with money even if they suck because they have nothing else but college sports. They have the advantage not us.

I find it crazy how people think this fan base the one that barely shows up for games are going to show players love especially when they aren't a championship contender.

Why is everyone focusing on what schools or conferences are helped the most by this change??

The fact is, the overall status quo and positioning of CFB teams won't change much.

Those on top now will find ways to adjust...... and with their steady streams of $$$ both legal and illegal, will not sweat this change at all.

The players are the ones who will benefit the most....but I seriously doubt the overall $$ they'll receive, wherever they are located, will be great....with very few exceptions....probably similar to the commercial earning power of coaches now

My guess is that "player celebs" in small town Power 5 schools will have image earning power far beyond just their locality. Earning power of players, whether they are in a big city or not, will be based on their overall renown & marketability to whoever seeks to benefit from the use of their image. This often will be greater in a football crazed area.

Being in a big city is only an advantage if a large amount of that area's companies and customers value the star power of that player, CFB and of that school....that is far more certain in area dominated by one CFB school ..i.e SEC, Big 10, schools in small towns.

Schools in big cities, like Miami are also teaming with fans of other schools like FSU and UF, and many could care less about CFB....so IMO being in a big city won't be a great advantage

Don't you think this would help well known Miami grown kids stay home? You'd have to think their name would hold some weight at home. I get what you're saying though. At least this could give us a way to give kids some $ and stay home. Instead of them following the $ to these bumfuk SEC towns.
