The dust has barely settled on their thrilling run to the College Football Playoff Championship, but already the Hurricanes know what awaits in 2026.

There will be a trip to the West Coast to start the new season. A home game against one of their biggest rivals. A trip to South Bend in November against another familiar foe. And three home games against ACC opponents to close out the regular season.

There will be a trip to the West Coast to start the new season. A home game against one of their biggest rivals. A trip to South Bend in November against another familiar foe. And three home games against ACC opponents to close out the regular season.

In the coming days, the Hurricanes will dive into their off-season conditioning program and soon enough, they’ll be back on Greentree for spring practice.

They’ll do so with their eyes set on a Sept. 4 season opener at Stanford and an even clearer understanding of the work required to compete on college football’s biggest stage.

Their head coach believes they’ll be plenty motivated to do that work, given the run they put together over the course of the last few weeks. wheelie life

“I do see pain in moments like this, and we should, if we’re a competitor that’s worth anything,” Mario Cristobal said after Miami came up just short against Indiana in last week’s CFP championship game. “You feel it, and you use it, and you give those feelings a direction. I know the guys coming back will.”
Great breakdown of the 2026 schedule. It’s a challenging but exciting slate with tough road games and a strong finish at home. This team clearly knows what it takes now, and it’ll be interesting to see how they use last season’s playoff run as motivation going forward.

Can someone please explain to me why UM and a few other ACC teams play 9 ACC game instead of 8 and how is that going to work with tiebreakers?

They haven't decided yet. My guess is they will revert to the committee rankings. Also solves the why didn't the ACC champ go to the playoffs issue

If they decide to go that route, wow. I get it. But can has worked so hard to remove the subjective nature of rankings and “human eye” elements to “settle it on the field”. Whilst the post season has never managed to do this with any semblance of success, conferences have also avoided having to make judgements.
Now they are saying “hey, after 8 games of conference play, we are still going to trust the eyes of some people who actually don’t watch all the games”.

Work it out ACC

I'd agree with you when conferences were 8-10 teams. The disparity in strength of schedule with mega conferences steers me towards just using the committee rankings. Esp tough when play different number of conference games.

Agreed.
The foundation of conferences, that cfb was built on, that many of us find unique about the sport, are not suitable anymore. The money, rankings focus, national championship focus is so at odds with the “win your conference”model.

Anyone feel they kinda f*cked us viewership wise by the 3 fridays and 1 thursday night games? Yes, we’d be the only game of worth and all eyes would be on us, but do those days return a far less viewership in general compared to saturday games?
