BREAKING: 2025 SF Shelton Henderson commits to Miami; Second highest ranked recruit ever

Anybody, now, thinks, Jai Lucas isn't a good hire! He is going after one and done talent, along with transfer who fits what he wants. He wins 20 games year one, Miami will be a problem national the next few years. The coaches and he, they just need to get them on a visit to the campus and South Florida!

I’ll take this one on the chin. Congrats to everyone who believed this was a possibility. Y’all nailed it.

Still doesn’t change my opinion on anything other than me saying this kid wasn’t coming here.

Big time win for Coach Lucas and the program. One can debate whether this is a unique outlier, guys like this rarely have multiple existing ties to a young first time HC, but who cares? Lucas went out and found a way to get this young man to sign. The question I have is whether this roster can continue to build, and how it all comes together. There's legit talent to work with, what we can't project is how the pieces come together. That is a tough ask for a first time HC, but the good news is that he will have plenty of pieces to work with, provided he continues to finish strong.

And THIS is why it's impossible to have a rational conversation on this board with some of our "Fans". Landing one high end guy doesn't change the fact that Miami ran a half assed search, and completely screwed the pooch on the process. Is it possible that Miami lucked into something special? Of course, anything is possible.

That said, no one said that Lucas couldn't recruit, what people said was that the jury was out in regards to him recruiting outside the blueblood bubble, because he's never done it. We also don't know what he's going to look like on gameday. We're all hoping for the best, but let's not crown a guy because he managed to pull a guy that he had multiple hooks in. It's a great signing, end of discussion.

We've got a bunch of brand-new "fans" or "long-time fans" who have never said ****...who are just ecstatic because a couple of recruiting wins will now allow them to brag to their friends and co-workers, as well as act like they've been Miami fans all along.

Look at this bull**** now..."we major"...**** all that fake performance art. We can puff our chests when we WIN GAMES. Until then, it's just short-**** guys falsely bragging about how big their tiny wieners are.

We just signed one of our highest rated recruits ever, in what world do we not immediately win games?

I will assume this is a great get for the new HC but will reserve all judgement until start of ACC play next year.

In the same world where Jalil Bethea was one of the highest rated recruits ever and proceeded to win 7 games.

I am not a mope and love the signing but let's not assume that winning is automatic. Even with good recruiting there are miles to go to coalesce an all new team and make them competitive.

We signed our highest rated recruit ever LAST YEAR, and we did not win games.

I'm from Missouri. You know what my peoples' motto is.

EDIT: Sorry, I just saw that you are in on the joke, my apologies!

Remember Earl Timberlake? How about Jalil Bethea? Both were highly rated, likely among the Top 5 all time in regards to grade. I think Henderson is a better player than both, but you need more than one very good player in order to win games. This roster is still lacking in a lot of areas, we all hope Coach Lucas addresses those needs.

Just caught the joke. Good one, sir.

Kinda funnystyle if no opinion or assumptions can be had before he coaches then why all of yall got assumptions? Haha. The polarity of the assumptions remains the issue. Negative is deemed as acceptable as neutral and positive is considered as speculative as the existence of Santa Claus

You are so full of ****.

Nobody has "assumptions". There is ample evidence, at both Miami and across Power 4 generally, that outside hires of career assistant coaches with no prior head coaching experience are NOT as successful as are P4 hires of coaches with prior head coacing experience at P4/G5/mid-major schools.

This has nothing to do with "negative" or "positive". It has everything to do with nitwits such as yourself projecting some kind of greatness/success with no evidence or track record to support those dreamy projections.

Keep believing what you want to believe. You simply can't handle those of us who are more skeptical and/or do not believe there will be immediate "NCAA tournament" success and/or are uncertain that 4 super-recruiters will be able to coach up a team of 15 brand-new guys.

But, yes, we ALL know that Jai and his staff can recruit. That much is known.

We shall see.
