Brandon Walker vs UF fan on the Canes

Why aren’t RB injuries much of a concern?
We did fine without Chaney last year.

We brought in Parrish — a guy who got significant playing time in the SEC last year on a top 15 team.

Citizen wasn’t going to be our starter immediately. He’s super talented, but so is Knighton.

Last year’s production isn’t what I had in mind for this year. Two backs out is always reason for concern. Hopefully this year is a pleasant surprise, but right now it doesn’t look as strong as it did a few weeks ago. And we’re adding this to the WR situation.

Basically, it’s fingers crossed for the whole offense right now.

We did fine without Chaney until Harris went down.

As long as we have the three headed monster of Parrish, Knighton and Franklin, we'll be OK.

Wait, so you’re ‘feelings’ on the RB situation are more accurate than the people watching practice? Because Mario is fooling them, but you can what? Sense the truth?
I said nothing like that. I said I have zero concerns about RB. We have several left, a good walk on and IIRC, Brashard Smith in a pinch. Maybe I'm just stupidly grazing in the pasture of positive thinking unaware of the reality lion about to pounce, but hey, it's comforting.

I've heard a great many things about practice, including conflicting information. Do I believe every one of our receivers sucks and has bricks for hands? Nope. The press is escorted out for a reason. It's my opinion that Mario is cunning and controls everything we see and hear.

Maybe Mario’s pulling the strings. But another thing coaches do is hide weakness. And they do that more than they hide strengths.

Anyway, don’t let me get you down. Hopefully you e got the right of it.

Completely forgot about Franklin. We’ll get Chaney back for ACC play and be fine.

Agreed about last year, but I expect better production with a much improved offensive line.

Thad in year 2 will be better than Cody Brown and I expect Knighton and Parrish to do their thing.

Absolutely, I voted 9-3 in the prediction poll and I think that's optimistic for a first year coach with a depleted roster.

I feel it’s very likely it’s this guy

In all fairness, the UF fan is right about our WR room, but he’s wayyyy off on his analysis of our DL.

Walker is spot on about TVD, our schedule, and how the RB injuries aren’t that big of a concern.
No. We get little nuggets from 20-30 minutes of viewing from the media, then people cast the entire WR as trash and unable to catch the ball. That's the basis for this FSU/UF fan who has zero insight into our WR room.

Unless you, he, or anyone else has been at multiple practices for extended periods of time, I'd suggest we all wait until game 3 at AtM before we characterize the WR room good or bad.

Where's the roster depleted? We have Zion on the offensive line and 2 RBs injured out of 5 scholarship RBs. Not all 5 would get touches. At least 2 of them would only get a few carries.

I think D Perry is fine as a serviceable 4th back with limited carries.

I’m still in the 9-3 camp, but I’m leaning towards 8-4 these days. I’m just not sure we have the weapons to control ACC games. And if we don’t control them, we’re going to lose some we assumed we’d win.

That’s odd, I seem to remember people getting all jazzed when there’s good news from practice. But now it turns out we can’t tell anything from practice?

We shouldn't anoint anyone either way until games have been played.

People being optimistic or pessimistic is fair, but the characterizations shouldn't happen until games have been played against a challenging opponent and that means game 3 vs AtM.

I'm talking about the roster that Manny left for Mario. It's not bad, but not as good as it will be when we're a perennial top 10 team again.

Name the losses, obviously Clemson and Texas A&M.

I think we go 10-2. I think we split those 2 games and lose to another team, maybe one of the Virginia's. I don't see us losing more than 3 games, range 9-11. So 10. 8-4 is possible only if we have massive struggle on the OL. I don't see that happening with who our coaches are and not against the ACC schedule we have. Also think we win all our home games.

Plus Thad and Perry gives you four. Gattis will have to manage the work load with the backs. Enough easy games on the schedule to accomplish that.
